strange that "this" EQ was tweeted from Burlington NY at 9:33pm which was nearly 3 hours before it happened. [link to twitter.com (secure)]

Natural Resources Canada now saying it was a 3.6 mag Quake.

We've all seen mining blasts register as EQ's. If it was a meteor as I intuitively believe, it would have to have been large enough for the impact to register seismically. Nothing in this mornings paper (likely printed prior to 12:16am).

It was felt over a large enough area; Morrisburg ON to Montreal QC and in northern New York State.

I spoke with the Police at approximately 12:25 and they told me it was an EQ. There is no way they could know that within 10 minutes of the happening. What I heard felt did not feel like a quake. I heard a crash sound the house shook as if from an impact type event. There was no rattling no swaying no after-shook (not that I'd expect one from a 3.6mag). My neighbor across the street came out and he had thought some ones car had hit his house. Which is exactly how it felt to me as well.
It was an audible crash sound, the cat and dog both freaked out. I looked out all the windows and couldn't see anything so out I went in the rain with a flashlight to check around my property thinking I might see a tree down on my roof or something like that.

i'm glad i'm not the only one that found this to be unlike a regular earthquake... i've been suggesting sonic boom, shockwave etc... this phenomenon originated from above, not below. having been witness to my fair share of quakes, i'm quite certain that this was not conventional seismic activity.

There is a flight path over Cornwall (Montreal Toronto) but the nearest air force bases are 1 hour north 1 hour east and 2 hours west. I'm not sure what there is in upstate NY
