Life only really seems to get tiring and boring, when one has to be constantly engaged in mundane activities, never being intellectually or creatively stimulated. Which is why dreaming certainly seems to be among the few releases people have from the rat race, along with the occasional conversation. Seems that it is far less common to actually have stimulating conversations in person... for myself anyway, I rarely experience people who can even engage in any kind of meaningful discourse, let alone manage to comprehend it.

It is interesting you should mention this. When I engage in mundane activities for the purpose of fulfilling someone or something else's drive, I find myself more hungry.
When I am creating and engaging with intellectual stimulus or by myself, I really do not get hungry for food.

Without the sugar, the researchers might have expected to see a surge in cortisol during the experiment because they gave the women impossibly difficult math problems to complete in their heads – a challenge designed to trigger a stress response – before the MRIs.

But the women who drank beverages sweetened with sugar had MRIs showing significantly higher activity in the hippocampus and lower levels of stress-induced cortisol than the MRIs of women who had aspartame. Normally, acute stress blocks activity in the hippocampus, the researchers write in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
