Good morning. I only managed through a few episodes. It's a bit too heavy for me.

I'm still binging on The Great British Baking Show. Wholesome and fun.

How are things? I assume your area escaped the flames? Crazy couple weeks for sure. Feels calmer now.

No ad on my laptop, just the tablet.

We carry it around in our pockets. We wear it on our wrists. We devote more than 10.5 hours a day to screen time.

Facebook has conducted experiments on us that show how susceptible we are to mind control. In 2012, the company secretly tampered with the news feeds of nearly 700,000 people, manipulating the ratio of emotionally positive to emotionally negative posts, then monitoring the subsequent activity of those users.

What they found is that emotions can be remotely controlled and are highly contagious on the platform. People who saw more unhappy posts showed more unhappy activity and vice versa. Many questioned the experiment’s legality and ethics, wondering if Facebook had triggered any suicides. Facebook apologized for the way the experiments were conducted and promised to conduct them “differently” in the future, with enhanced review.

People are very easy to control using emotional triggers disguised as positive reinforcement, and the susceptibility to echo chamber in social media, is terrifying.

World of Warcraft utilized this same methodology when when they changed the word 'unrested' to 'normal' and 'normal' to 'rested'.

Exactly. When I want to escape into Netflix or its like, it is not to make myself feel worse. I'm really particular at what I'll allow myself to look at and view.

I don't think I even finished 3 episodes. Someone told me to watch Nosedive directly and that was the only reason I looked for it. Little did I know at the time..

I often watch the same things over and over because I know they're safe.

I paused Daredevil show series on Netflix a short while ago. Now almost to last show of season 3.

The Daredevil limited series by Frank Miller was among some first comic books I read as kid.

Imagine if those Daredevil series on Netflix were on shelf in a video store during 1990s... the experience would be more awesome. All I gotta get in and pay about $4.00 (Honestly, I forgot) for like two shows and I'd get thrown in a free bag of popcorn. Or rent horror and sci-fiction movies, in 3 movies for almost same price.

Its weird.. I was more eager to watch almost any kind of movies in 90s but not same as now. The experience of watching and reading in 90s was...

Rich.

Maybe 2-4 copies for local store only. Sometimes some are phoned in advance, for to reserve.

I remember the day when the local store put up a paper at front of door saying it is being closed due to downloading and common copies of movies on the internet. That was years ago.

That was common in the 80s. Once the big box video stores took over, they would have dozens of copies of new releases to combat the very problem we all faced in the 80s.

How many times did you go to the video store and leave empty handed after 20 minutes?

Now they're nearly all gone. Amazon is pretty good at titles for rent, but not everything is there. Netflix is limited but a good service overall.

I watched that episode.

I can't handle a lot of screaming, male or female, in anything. Makes my skin feel gross and weird, so I avoid it.

Will's screaming in Stranger Things 2 was hard to stomach. Some empathic response I don't find pleasant.

I loved Neverwinter Nights way back when.. Top 5 all-time games for me.

I just can't focus on games, the way I once use to.

I did however, just buy a bunch of baking stuff. I'm inspired to learn a new skill and I know I would be good at it.

I've been baking since I was 4 or 5 and was making cream puffs and pudding cakes, and jam by 6 or 7. Only problem with baking is the high calories and large portions, so I'm getting into smaller things like 6-inch cakes.

Have you watched The Great British Baking Show?

The seasons with these 2 ladies are my favorite..
