I'll be fine either way. I learned my lesson the last time.

I have invested $0.00.

I don't enjoy or believe in the highs and lows of gambling, while knowing the house always wins.

I live pretty small because after you lose it all, including the will to live, most 'stuff' gets the volume turned down.

Re: Mad World
To be fair..I know a lot of people enjoy and are good at gambling. The cost vs. loss is such that it's worth the risk until that line is crossed and you get hooked and start making poorer and poorer choices to cover your losses. Or even worse, try to hide them until it's too late.

I'm just not a huge fan of money..as long as there is enough not to constantly stress about paying bills and enough left over for some added comfort, I'm content. The temptation is just not there for me.

I've never had a car payment in my life and my last credit card I said goodbye to in 2009. I have no bank account because of what I went through after the 2008 collapse through no fault of my own and feeling betrayed by the banking system.

There is a special kind of ego destruction that happens when you are forced to lose your home, watch your belonging taken off the curb by passersby, because all your stuff won't fit in refurbished former carport, to get back on your feet.

We're doing better than we ever have, business is great and we're making a lot of $$$ on the commercial investment we bought last year, including other rentals.

I mostly have my hands out of all that..and the trust is minded by others.

If it was to disappear I probably wouldn't feel much of a loss being it really doesn't feel real anyway. It's like far away possible future money that might or might not come into play for us some day.

I've pressed my parent repeatedly to spend the money they spent a lifetime earning, with the short time my mom has left at home before needing full-time care by qualified carers. Which will be enormously expensive.

Inheritance aside, I want them to enjoy it.

If you haven't seen, or even if you have, I recommend giving The Big Short a view. Great movie about what happened in 2008 as a direct result of relaxing the rules on banks.

Deregulation.

Thinking about it..we did finance one of the business vans way back in 2007 or thereabout.

We still have it. Good van. Needed 3 transmissions though.

Was fun to camp in the few times we got to go.

Re: Mad World
Glass–Steagall legislation

After the financial crisis of 2007–2008, some commentators argued that the repeal of Sections 20 and 32 had played an important role in leading to the housing bubble and financial crisis.

Economics Nobel prize laureate Joseph Stiglitz, for instance, argued that "when repeal of Glass-Steagall brought investment and commercial banks together, the investment-bank culture came out on top", and banks which had previously been managed conservatively turned to riskier investments to increase their returns.

Turmoil at Silicon Valley Bank triggers market panic: Four biggest US banks lose staggering $52 BILLION in valuation and Dow drops 540 points

The four largest US banks -- JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and Citigroup -- saw their share prices plunge between 4% and 6%, wiping $52.3 billion from their collective market capitalizations for the day.

$100BN wiped off US banking market in SINGLE DAY as former White House adviser calls it 'tip of the iceberg': Bloodbath on Wall Street saw regional banks fall by up to 60% and the Big Four drawn into SVB's collapse contagion

More than $100 billion was wiped off US banks' value today in a bloodbath on Wall Street sparked by the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank.

Trading was intermittently halted on at least 20 regional banks as the velocity of money forced regulators to intervene. The Big Four of US banks were also drawn into the bloodletting. Citigroup's share price dived 7.45 percent, Wells Fargo sank 7.1 percent, Bank of America plunged 5.8 percent and JP Morgan fell 1.8 percent.

Among the worst affected regional banks were First Republic which fell by 62 percent, Western Alliance which closed with a loss of 47 percent and KeyCorp which dropped by 21 percent.

Things are calmer at the moment but had a harrowing night a few nights back..

I’m playing Sackboy and about to make a pizza.

Ever play? Really fun game. I’m going back to collect all the stickers, trying master each level.

I can rarely get lost in gaming anymore so I enjoy it while it lasts.

Planning on watching The Last of Us tonight with pizza.

No spoilers! :P

I had a less than ideal evening a couple of nights ago as well. I wouldn't call it harrowing, but ugh, stuff.

I haven't played that, I don't think so anyway. It does look like a decent platformer though.

No spoilers! I've not seen it yet either, I'll be watching later but sans-pizza. Possibly leftover pastabake. lol.

I heard commercial retail real estate was going to be hit hard. Probably connected to BlackRock's default.

So be careful there for now.

2008 I remember well. Both myself and my spouse being in the construction business were hit hard.

I built a business from nothing, a woman in a mans world just to shut it down in the eighth year and my spouse laid off for 8 months.

We lived off our savings with a huge loss in our 401k.

We recovered and put everything in our homestead. Our only child will have a nice estate inheritance.

I know there are many hurting out there financially. Debt is a bad way to be in.

[UPDATED] Jan. 6 Videos Show Antifa Infiltrating Trump Supporters, Trumpers Stopping Vandals

Editors note: Two of the videos featured in an earlier version of this article appeared to have been taken out of context and have been removed.

Videos of Jan. 6, 2021, some of which were previously censored, are now circulating online and sparking controversy and shock. The videos show people who appear to be Antifa infiltrating Trump supporters and Trump supporters stopping Antifa vandalism. Another video shows a man who said he witnessed Antifa disguising themselves and saying they wanted to make Trump supporters look bad. The eyewitness further insisted the Jan. 6 protesters committing vandalism were not Trump supporters.
