Re: Mad World
Charity organization I belong to. I'm a social motherfucking butterfly you didn't know? Turns out the best way to raise money is to include alcohol and fun ppl. The wallets and purse strings open like magic. We just had a private party for members and used it as a clothes drive for the homeless. Collected winter clothes and such. So it wasn't just mindless debauchery.

Good whiskey. Always whiskey.

That and whatever someone brings you of course. Never dismiss a gift.

Clothing the homeless. That is very noble use of one's time. I'm impressed.

Good man. Always whiskey...

What's your brand?

I really enjoy the Irish whiskeys right now. My prefeference is in the bottles in the $40-$50 range. There's a lot of quality choices there. I currently like Knappogue Castle 12-year-old ($42).

My standby for like at the bar or always in the bar at home is Jameson or beefeaters usually.
There's always Maker's too of course. Everyone tends to carry that one.

I'm drinking Jameson with coffee now actually.
 Quoting: Facts>feelings

I'm not a big fan of Irish whiskey or scotch. I find it is far too peaty for my taste, but I know the real cultured whiskey drinkers often prefer Irish whiskey. Or so I've noticed.

I think right now, my hands down favorite is Blantons. Oh yeah...

:P

Whatever treats you right you should drink :)

Whiskey literally changes your palate over time. That's why us fancy fuckers drink are drinking different stuff than everyone else. You grow into them over time and they taste different to us than you.

Japanese whiskey is coming on strong. Much if it is needlessly expensive as its still trendy.

Some I've had are very good and different. Others were just average whiskey in a fancy bottle with an odd color.

I don't buy them yet often. I'll wait on the smoke to clear.

The Four Stages of the Dark Side
[link to imgur.com]

The Four Stages of the Dark Side was a thesis presented by the Jedi Master Tolaris Shim that outlined her beliefs on what constitutes a complete fall to the dark side.

Stage 1: Temptation

Stage 2: Imperilment

Stage 3: Submission

Stage 4: Redemption/Atonement

Tolaris believed that a Jedi who is only slightly tainted by the dark side could atone for their actions through meditation, reflection, and absolution. She also believed that a Dark Jedi was beyond atonement, and therefore only eligible for redemption.

According to Master Shim, a redeemed Jedi is one who has performed a selfless act of heroism without using the dark side to obtain results. Such acts include saving the life of another through completely selfless action, or helping to right a wrong one has helped to create.

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
 Quoting: Seer777

Stage 1: Temptation

Tolaris Shim believed that because a Jedi was in tune with the Force and could use it to whatever ends they saw fit, situations would arise that tempted the Jedi toward selfish applications of the Force. Rushing to help friends, facing obvious perils, and ending disputes quickly were all acts of haste that according to Master Shim would result in steps onto the dark path should the individual act first and contemplate later.

Stage 2: Imperilment

According to Master Shim, a hasty, indecisive Jedi can be quite a catastrophe to themselves. Also, any Jedi who believes that a "shortcut" through the path of the dark side will be lined with signs redirecting him back toward the light is only deluding himself. Shim felt that a Jedi cannot be blinded by the idea of doing what they perceive to be right, by any means necessary. She also believed that if one accepts the darkness by which they are surrounded as a means to power, then the next stage has no bearing on their concerns.

To bring the balance back...

Bring it back

Bring it back

 Quoting: Seer777

Stage 3: Submission

Master Shim believed that once a Jedi accepts the dark path, the end justifying the means becomes irrelevant. Situations like attempting to destroy the Sith through infiltration, or trying to save loved ones from death have caused several famous Jedi to explain away their actions based on the desired outcomes. At this point, their fall to the dark side is nearly complete.

Re: Mad World
That dark side stuff made me think of this:

Stage 1: Manifestation – This is when the spirit first appears, or when the Operator first makes contact with the spirit. If the Manifestation happens spontaneously, then the individual will feel much more out of control of the situation than if the Manifestation is coerced through evocation. This stage of possession is quite non-invasive, for the most part, and is usually fleeting, other than the psychological impression it may leave behind.

Stage 2: Infestation – This is when a spirit infests the life of the individual, outside of the ritual of evocation. In various ways, the spirit or spirits will demonstrate that they are still there, and they will often do things to bring attention to their presence. This can manifest in poltergeist activity, phantom voices or footsteps, or in the constant felt presence of the spirit. These are actually pretty common occurrences for people who evoke spirits often. If you experience this stage of possession, and are discomforted or harassed by it, it can almost always be solved by a simple area cleansing or banishing.

Stage 3: Mounting – This stage of possession is when the body and mind of the individual need to adapt to allow the spirit to take control. If you are attempting to become willfully possessed in a ritual setting, you will feel the spirit entering you as an almost electrical force, and as it nests inside of you, you’ll feel your sensory, nervous, and muscular faculties fading from your conscious control, and being controlled by something else. The more that you fight against this external control, the more violent it will become. What you should know is that the struggle is not between the spirit and the person, but is between the person’s willingness to give him or her self over to the possession fighting against their reluctance to release control of themselves to something else. In a ritual setting, the Mounting stage only lasts a few minutes, and is rarely a dangerous situation. When this process starts in someone who has not trained themselves to handle these sorts of influences, this stage can often last for days or weeks, or sometimes even years, as they battle with themselves, while the entity waits patiently for the individual to make up his or her mind. In such a situation, most classical, orthodox exorcists call this stage “Oppression,” or “Obsession.” Either the spirit will do and say things in order to urge the individual into relinquishing control and allowing the possession, or the individual becomes guardedly obsessed with the spirit, praying to it, sacrificing to it, and doing everything short of allowing it to take full possession.

Stage 4: Riding – At this stage, the spirit fully possesses the individual. Any struggle and adjustment ceases, and the spirit can speak, act, and live through the body of the individual. This is where possession has its real benefit. As the person who is possessed, you basically become a passenger in your own body and mind. What this allows you to do is to observe the possessing spirit. How does it think? How does it plan? How does it perform ritual? How does it move power? Gather notes during your period of possession, and then when the spirit has departed, you can start a series of experiments in reproducing all of this, so that your magick will become as strong as the magick that the spirits use!

Stage 5: Perfect Possession – This is a fifth stage of possession, and is pretty rare. This occurs after repeated possessions, when the individual willingly allows the spirit to permanently co-inhabit his or her body, and co-experience his or her life. Rather than the spirit driving the vehicle of your body while you merely observe, you’ll become co-pilots. This becomes a merger between the individual and the spirit, until eventually there is no observable distinction between the person and the possessing spirit. Obviously, extreme care would need to be taken in which spirit you would do this with, and even then, I’d advise that you reconsider.

 Quoting: Seer777

As a person? No, I don't. Why?

This other one I just wanted examples of the steps, this one is better:

[link to pwsm-ri.org]
I. Ordinary activity. TEMPTATION
This is the most common and ordinary of demonic activity. It is at the heart of our daily choices: to do what is right and godly or to do what is wrong and sinful.

II. Extraordinary activity.
*IMPORTANT NOTE*- There may be other, explainable reasons for a person having some of these symptoms. It does not necessarily mean a person is being affected by the demonic.

Fr. Amorth includes in this second category six different areas of demonic influence…

External physical pain caused by Satan. We can see evidence of this in the lives of such saints as Padre Pio and St. John Vianney (Patron of Parish Priests) who were physically attacked by demons. Those involved in paranormal investigation or in deliverance ministry who encounter and try to confront these dark forces sometimes have also been assaulted by them.

Diabolic obsession. In this area, we are referring to an “out of character” sudden attacks of obsessive thoughts. These can be of an ongoing and even absurd nature. There is an added inability to be freed from these thoughts which range from desperation to suicide.

Although there are mental illnesses such as an obsessive compulsive disorder, if this is a persistent and harmful obsession, it would not be a bad idea to either have clergy or fellow believers pray over the person in the name of the Lord for healing and liberation from the obsession.

Diabolical oppression. This is most likely the most common demonic activity pertaining to persons that a paranormal group or clergy will be called in on.

In a case of diabolic oppression, there is no possession, but rather it is an attack from outside the person that person. Fr. Amorth points to the Old Testament story of Job as an example of this type of activity. He also notes that, while possession is relatively rare as far as demonic activity, there have been many who have been attacked by evil in areas such as health, employment, family, relationships and even physical discomfort.

Diabolic infestation. This activity is also of a more common nature that investigating groups will encounter. This affects houses, property, things and even animals.

Demonic possession. This is when a demon (or demons) take full possession of the person’s body. However, Fr. Gabriel notes that although the devil possesses the body, he cannot possess the soul. The demon acts without either the knowledge or consent of the afflicted person. We must realize that the victim is morally blameless in this case.

It is important to understand that possession can pose a danger to the clergy and team assisting them. For this reason, it is only the local bishop that can sanction an exorcism.

Diabolical subjugation, or dependence. This can happen when a person voluntarily and willingly submits to the devil. Fr. Amorth suggests common ways are through blood pacts and consecration to the devil.

Re: Mad World
I don't think in terms of light and dark path.

There are white and black methods one can use to achieve their will but they're merely tools.

Like two daggers. One white handled and one black. Both good for the kind of work the blade was designed for respectably.

There is only the individual. Any "path" they are on is no different than the dagger and its positive or negative results are only by products of the one using it.

Not the path itself.

Because I wondered if you were working for him, ever since just after Christmas.

He pushed me toward you repeatedly. When everything in me was screaming at me to break away.

So I ignored him. And I fought it. Over and over.
 Quoting: Seer777

No, I'm not working for anyone here, although there might be shared interests.

How did he push you towards me? And you should have just went along with it, to be honest. It would have benefitted both of us.

I agree with the white and black when it comes to the blade but I still think there are two opposing sides when it comes to understanding these things and what they should be used for.

They're not paths in that they're not permanent directions laid in concrete and used by all. That's an illusion. A lie.

They are schools of thought that perpetuate the illusion of these paths to further their own ends and trick ppl into believing they are of like mind to gain their loyalties and energies for themselves. By pretending they are on this same path.

Which is merely a construct of an organizations will. Not a natural function of the universe.

Its forces a duality perspective that perpetuates both the white and black existence. With out an opposing side to rally against neither would have a reason to exist.
