I'm certain I could google many suits filed and lost against Monsanto.. How is suing the government going to be any different? When so many of our leaders are in bed with them.

Somehow, they must reform or they must be gone, shut down and some arrests made imho .. It has to start at the top. We need a leader who is not in their pocket. Then surround by other leaders who view the same. Then we need to prep our soils/souls educate/learn and when ready we need to multiply the heirloom seeds in vaults that are in various places and plant.

Sweet vindication feel good. 1 point for logic.

Morning everyone.

Thread: So whatever happened with the lights on ceres, what was the source of the lights?
The last information that was given was salt.

Really really reflective salt.

Vindication.

Thread: Okay WHAT THE FUCK IS ON CERES???

Could they be a giant salt flat?

Salt flats are very reflective.

See image:
Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat at 10,582 square kilometers (4,086 sq mi). It is located in the Daniel Campos Province in Potosí in southwest Bolivia, near the crest of the Andes and is at an elevation of 3,656 meters (11,995 ft) above mean sea level.

Yet it still seems to emit light when it goes into the shadows (1 frame) in OP's GIF link:
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1590598

The missing frames as it (should) come into view from the left still bug me.

If water and volcanic activity ever existed on Ceres, the salt would stay there indefinitely. Salt essentially lasts forever... The table salt we eat, can be millions of years old.

Funny thing about that though, the first Ceres thread came out that same day I was watching a documentary on Salt. I woke up completely obsessed with finding out all about salt, and a few hours later that Ceres thread popped up. Being I had just been staring are reflective salt flats for hours, it seemed a rather logical answer for the 'Ceres lights'.

Lot of people didn't like my answer and trolled me for it.

But, a year later here we are. Logic wins.

It think that is a strong posit. I think Occam's razor, should come into play when speculating. This makes sense to me.

Especially, with the discovery of the 'watery volcanoes' of Ceres. Perhaps a large eruption flooded a salt flat and the reflection of, is what we are seeing. There seem to be other reflective areas in the gif as well. Those 2 are just the brightest.

I thought it would be super exciting to people if it WAS salt, like I posited.

Salt+Water=Potential for life

Right in our own backyard. Ceres is behind Mars in the asteroid belt.

Very exciting. But modern people don't know how important salt is, because it is so inexpensive and in seemingly endless supply. It wasn't always like that.

Salt, like I said above, is the origin of the word 'salary'.

I just had a weird thought.

Being salt and water exist on Ceres....maybe Humankind should try 'seeding' it.

Send a package full of...IDK, building block of life and smash it into the salt water.

By 'smash' I mean, allow it to deposit its load.

Heh.

Kind of an interesting idea though. It's very close compared to anything else in our solar system and two of the main ingredients are already there.

...Waterbears. Send waterbears. And low light tolerant Amoeba and algae.

before u venture too far seer, the reflective areas on ceres change shapes, the shapes are continually changing.

salt maybe present as sodium is a common element, but the changing spots on ceres are most likely the result of volcanic activity bringing underground water to the surface.

what is exciting is that a small planetoid with volcanic activity, water and with substantial sodium deposits hold the possibilities of life. what may be lacking is a suitable atmosphere. lol

The water volcanoes is how I explained the spots changing. With new eruptions the 'salt flat' would change in shape.

It is clearly a natural phenomena plainly seen by the shape of the 'Ceres lights', which is near identical to Salar de Uyuni.

the salt flats would have to be substantial during receding periods.

also the volcanic activity may be related to the sun facing side, much like a comet of asteroid heating up and expelling vapors when facing the sun. the reflective nature of the spots coincide with the above.
