In The Time Machine by H.G Wells, the time traveler goes to the future to find two races. He postulates they evolved from to classes of citizens. The Morlocks were slaves to the upper class. Made to live underground and produce everything for them.While the Eloi, the upper class, had it made in the shade. Nature takes its course. The Morlocks retain intelligence where the Eloi have become childlike. The Morlocks maintain their care taking of the Eloi to use them as cattle.
