Global debt hit an all-time high of $233 trillion (£169 trillion) in the third quarter of 2017, according to the Institute of International Finance (IIF). That's a $16 trillion increase on debt levels at the end of 2016 and more than three times the size of the global economy.

It's a global house of cards, virtually all 1s and 0s now. And with so much "inbreeding" amongst the biggest players - a simple example being financial institutions that own multiple companies that run in "competition" to each other - it's virtually a stage show.
