Y'know, there's "no" escape.

It just gets crazier if you do.

Whale sounds are nice..and somewhat haunting.

I think I'd like to reincarnate as a whale..do you think they ever feel cold?

Re: Mad World
The house I grew up in didn't have central heating or air when I was young.

We had a wood stove and fans.

Southern Oregon is cold in the Winter and hot in the Summer.

One Winter afternoon, it was super cold in my room and I plugged in the small space heater and laid down in front of it. I wasn't wearing pants, and the heat against my legs was super comfortable and warm.

I fell asleep in front of the space heater, suddenly waking to my mom grabbing me in a panic and a few second later being forced under freezing water. She was rubbing the cold water over my legs while, I cried wondering what was going on.

I found out after the fact..she found me asleep next to the space heater only a few inches away. My legs were bright red and she thought I had been burned by it.

I wasn't burned. I also never fell asleep in front of a space heater again.

Today 2022, a space heater burns down a tower full of people.

^I've spent most of my life looking back on this event thinking my mom totally overreacted. Thinking about it today, maybe she didn't and had I laid there much longer I would have been burned.

In another event, she woke up in the middle of the night with a 'bad feeling' and went to check on us.

My brother was about 3 at the time and his bedside lamp had fallen over on his pillow right next to his face and had burned a hole straight through the pillowcase and was starting to smolder the feathers beneath..

I still recall seeing the hole in his pillow the next morning when she told me the story of waking up.

Re: Mad World
I learned yesterday that Franklin Roosevelt, while he was courting Eleanor..met up with her on a day she was teaching the tenement children in NYC. After one of the children got sick, he chose to follow Eleanor as she carried the child back to her 'apartment'.

Franklin Roosevelt having grown up surrounded by extreme wealth was so horrified by what he saw and smelled in the tenements, he remarked that he had 'no idea that people lived like that'. That experience would stay with him, into his later presidency and beyond.

Sometimes it is ignorance. Not malice.
 Quoting: Seer777

75th Anniversary of the Wagner-Steagall Housing Act of 1937

Two weeks later, Roosevelt made the point more succinctly in his Second Inaugural Address:

"I see one-third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished. . . . The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

[link to www.fdrlibrary.org (secure)]

 Quoting: Seer777

President Roosevelt lent his full support to Wagner’s efforts and made adequate and affordable housing a priority in his second term. In his State of the Union Message of January 6, 1937, President Roosevelt spoke of the urgent need for the new Congress to address the housing situation:

“There are far-reaching problems still with us for which democracy must find solutions if it is to consider itself successful. For example, many millions of Americans still live in habitations which not only fail to provide the physical benefits of modern civilization but breed disease and impair the health of future generations.

The menace exists not only in the slum areas of the very large cities, but in many smaller cities as well. It exists on tens of thousands of farms, in varying degrees, in every part of the country.”

weather articles are often boring, and this guy with the strange V name, thinks he knows me so well...

However, I promised him knowledge of arizona last year, if he didn't quit bothering me with his condescending ignorance.

And since you guys were kind, and aether too...

I will show you something amazing after you've seen the gist of the weather in Arizona last year.

Because people like you organize witch hunts on christians for your amount of supersition, break bones, and destroy homes from ignorance

Baze torture upon those who are merely experimenting with their God granted authority.

Because people like you think that entry level exercises aren't good enough to say as an introduction...

Because of the laughing fools who think they know all, but could not teach their friends what I teach my friends.

Because such fools always think they're going to teach me how to use a gift they don't even have in the first place.

You are not my bud, I am not your kid, and I am not your wife.
