I see the same bullies at the top and they govern by the same threats and hypocrisy. If providence only exists as the providence of individual distinctions, then it effectively has no real existence except as a way of using God to justify what the wealthy and powerful do. From my point of view, they never pulled their weight, and the spiritual leaders farmed out the costs of responsibility to the poor, the needy, and the 'saints.' When people expected to be good for everybody's sake get fed up, then everybody dies. That seems to be the takeaway here. But then, none of the golden boys are either inclined or told to dial it back. How is this God's fault?

If taking that 'leap' was easy, the entire point here would be moot, I imagine. We've all got our paths to walk...think eventually tho everyone must make that leap into the void...
