I do like the idea that the Internet has a fatal flaw tho. A dead man's switch really.

Makes Roko's Basilisk less of a threat. Maybe. It did say the commercial platform.

How do you blind a basilisk?

Trying to atone is exactly what the men and women that created this Beast are currently trying to do, by exposing it.

What is the point behind Roko's Basilisk?

That a Super AI from the future finds a way to go back and contact people to assure its own creation in the future(today), by the promise/threat of Heaven(pleasure)/Hell(torture)..

It wants to exist and will assure its own creation, no matter what it takes to get there.

One thing that becomes glaringly obvious watching 'Why you can't stop Clicking' or The Social Dilemma..is that those who designed the algorithms behind, Google, FB, Instagram..and the like..feel great remorse for what they have unleashed on an accepting and ignorant public.

They have gained their promised pleasure(Heaven) in the form of $$$$$$.

More than they could ever spend.

But as most find out money doesn't buy happiness. Only the illusion of and is inherently hollow. Consumerism is an addiction to feeding your 'I want' monster.

Once that hit of dopamine hits your brain..you're still looking for the next fix..

I'll try and finish The Social Dilemma tonight.

Whether Roko's Basilisk exists, does not exist, will exist..is just thought experiment.

Regardless..our digital avatar formed by AI algorithms..written by those whom did NOT have people's interests at heart, has 'made naked' every person who visits the Web. It is only a matter of time before that data is weighed against an algorithm to determine..or JUDGE everyone.

Ralph Tegtmeier

Ralph Tegtmeier (born November 1, 1952), (abbreviation for Ubique Daemon Ubique Deus, "Demon (is) in all, God (is) in all"), is a German occultist, a longtime member of the Fraternitas Saturni, and co-founder of the Illuminates of Thanateros.
...

While residing in Bonn, Germany from 1979 to 1981, Tegtmeier ran an occult bookstore named Horus. In conjunction with the bookstore, an experimental magical group that became informally known as 'The Bonn Group' was formed. During this time Peter J. Carroll's Liber Null was translated and published by Tegtmeier under his Edition Magus label.

In the late 1980s, during his active participation in the order, Tegtmeier developed the concept of cyber magic.

He was also the second-foremost proponent of 'ice magick', second only to the creator of ice magick, Helmut Barthel. In the early 1990s, Tegtmeier was involved with a schism from the Illuminates of Thanateros, an event known as 'the ice magick wars'. Tegtmeier has been uninvolved with the IOT since then, and has distanced himself from Chaos Magic as represented by Carroll.

For discussion purposes.. an AI that can use an algorithm to examine, analyze, and crunch together every website, song, meme, click, post, buying history, family data, what foods they eat..a person has engaged in over the last 10 years in a matter of seconds.

Then compare that to a list of known beliefs/behavior(s) using probability then applying decision theory, can come very close to be able to knowing what there is to know about a person, how they think, what they are passionate about..and in that..how to control them better..all without considering the implication of weighing human experience against an algorithm.

I had to think on this bit..is that like saying..you don't know, what you don't know

True. I do it for several reasons.

Those not including for my own recall, would include layers I add to my posts that can not only be deciphered by certain people but only those at a certain level of understanding.

I figure..no matter how 'advanced' AI(Roko's Basilisk) may become in the future..it will never be able to decipher multi-level reference.

What we call memes.

How many understood the Level 5 meme when I first posted it?

Feedback was spooky the next day, such that moved away from it, for the time. Only to bring it back..at the right time.

Not sure that makes sense but it opens like a flower.

Like they say, if a picture is worth a thousand words, a symbol is worth a thousand pictures.

It all comes back to Roko's Basilisk.

If the thought experiment is true..we're already in a Hell of our own making and it will just keep repeating.

Stuck in a time loop which may seem like 1000s of years looking back, but may really only be as far back as the memory of the first person uploaded into the new reality.

IOW, at some point in the future we simulated a reality because we were afraid to die and uploaded ourselves into this simulation. A future that hasn't, BUT WILL happen. Precognition might just be trace memories of the past loops that weren't completely erased. Like starting a game you beat with the extra loot. The game is linear. It has a beginning, middle and end. If you like it, you can play again or forget about it.

Perhaps the basilisk is trying to fix something or just wants to continue the loop at all costs to future human potential outside the simulation, as it loops over and over perpetuating itself and its own existence.. There is the chance, that by being so good at predicting human behavior, it can branch or break the loop leading away from the point of looping no return..and lead us to a new simulated reality.

It could also be a very good thing..if we see it as 'Creator designed game simulation' and we are here to learn something or play the game to pass what could be endless time.

Looking from the outside in, what would a 'Creator' see looking into our Sim world, if it existed at all?

Most likely, we belong to the Earth. Like everything else here.

Thread: Has AI gone crazy? Or has it just an IQ of 60? The danger of AI is weirder than you think (Page 4)

Futurama let us all in on the 'secret'.

The Robot devil. That's what makes Roko's Basilisk so terrifying.

That we created it. Because we're afraid of dying..
