Caribbean and Pirates
Is it really true that in the 1500s, 1600s and the 1700s, the Caribbean sea was really dangerous waters, crawling with dangerous pirates, in the same kind of a way that sharks patrol Australian waters ?

There is all kinds of movies about pirates and featuring pirates...

But what is the real likelihood that back in the pre-modern era, if you went sailing in the Caribbean... that you would likely find yourself hanging onto crumbling walls ?

Because how did they get these ships ?
How much of their own selves is somebody willing to risk to do crimes ?
Where is all the documentaries about their operations ?

Its entertaining in the movies, but I thought it was mostly made up.

I've been looking it up.

I'm kind of amazed though, to not be finding all of these Spaniards and French...
But mostly British.

Read up on PRIVATEERS, pirates for pay. Take a ship and steal the cargo- presto, one ship up for grabs.
