Makes you wonder just how much they're hiding. Last summer I watered the garden from the mains on a hose - I never normally do this, there's always e enough rainwater. All the plants I watered died off, even potatoes. I felt pretty rundown that summer, I'm sure it was the mains water.

I've been wondering if it's safe to drink rainwater here. Must say it's crystal clear, and I'm near the west coast so it comes straight from the Atlantic, doesn't pass over any polluted areas.
 Quoting: Tess.

You're on the West Coast and think rain comes from the Atlantic, which is on the East Coast? Weather moves from west to east so your theory won't hold water.

However, if you meant to say the rain came over the Pacific Ocean to the West Coast, you would be correct. The only problem with that is it would carry radiation from Fukushima.

Yup, we're screwed no matter which way we look.

Woah! That's bad!
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

Re: Flint, Mich. So much lead in children’s blood they’ve declared a state of emergency
The whole city did stand up together and refused to pay bills for toxic water. This is one reason this issue got a spotlight & this got on the road to being fixed.
But they just resumed shutoffs for EVERYONE who chose to not pay their bills for poop water. $100 a month. Everyone still has to pay for it. Nothing changed that. All not paying for it did was get people a HUGE shut off water bill real fast.
And for anyone who will say 'refuse to pay that' I challenge you to go to your water meter right now and shut off your main water to your house. Leave it like that for just one day. Then you will see just how it is. You would be running down to pay that bill & get that water one as fast as you could. It's next to impossible to live without city water while living in the city. They know that. It's why they know they can get away with extorting the money from us.

Get a whole house reverse osmosis system, or at least your tap for drinking. They are expensive, but will remove all the wicked stuff.

Thank you for the pine, that was lightning fast.
I think it's terribly unfortunate that they just lied to everyone for 18 months and told them it was safe to drink. Apparently the water came out cloudy with a foul odor but they were told that it was basically their imagination and to drink up. The effects on those kids are permanent.
 Quoting: Strawberrymittens

If it the water was noticeably foul, then the reality denying libtards would have drank it. Natural selection at work.

A normal persons response would have been to NOT drink the poison water and find alternative resources or move.

People in denial of reality need to die and not fucking vote. This problem will eventually fix itself once the stupid ones are dead.

Yeah, the entire rust belt has more surprises like that just waiting to be discovered...
 Quoting: gp 70960681

We have all kinds of shit in our water here, mercury is one of the worst problems and it has made the people nuts. There is also chromium , lead and strontium. In the town where I live 1 out of every 187 people is registered as a sex offender and in a nearby town just west of here it's 1 out of 27. An no, I'm not exaggerating, almost all of the kids in this area are victims of molestation and it's usually a family member. I never drank the water because I suspected there was something in it when i saw how weird the people were acting, I knew there had to be a common thread. There are a lot of people that are just plain batshit crazy, you have to be careful and avoid eye contact and socializing, just mind you own business. The funny thing is you can drive 15 miles north or 18 miles south and the people are perfectly normal so it's something in the environment without a doubt.

LOL. Just like a Yank to not be able to figure that out.
Please know that we are not all this dense.
And some can not really be blamed due to all the lead and mercury they are consuming.
This story is disturbing.
The people responsible need to be held accountable, not simply by being fined or fired, but rather tried and convicted.

Re: Flint, Mich. So much lead in children’s blood they’ve declared a state of emergency
City officials insist Flint’s water is safe, even if it looks unappealing.

Mayor Dayne Walling, a Flint native, says he drinks the water. Walling allows the “perception persists” that the river remains polluted from toxins left behind by heavy industrial activity in the past, but says it’s cleaner than it has been for years, he said.
[link to patch.com]

Do a Google image search for 'Flint water' and you will see many images of just how bad your drinking water can get

And when looking at those images of that disgusting water, keep in Mind we all pay at least $100 a month for our water. & that's just the bare basics amount.
Main reason its so high is because the city improperly raised water and sewer rates by 35 percent in 2011 and added a 'readiness-to-serve' charge, which amounts to about $57 per monthly, per customer.

Who the hell knows wtf that charge pays for but it sure was a nice way for a broke city that pays their public officials way to much for sitting on their thumbs, to extort more money from the public. Then when they get called out for their actions, saying its not their fault & its our job as the public to pay to have all this fixed.

And people are suing for 2 sperate things. 1 because the effects of lead is irreversable. Most people bought & continue to buy bottled water to drink. But it goes far beyond just drinking water. Most thought it was OK to cook with the water since your boiling it (right?) & we Have to shower in it & water our animals & wash our clothes. All while getting saturated with copious amounts of lead. And thanks to Obama for signing a bill that makes collecting rain water illegal.

& 2 to get back money they payed on bills that was illegal extorted from us without any notice or fesable explanation at all. Just 32 to 100 within a month. Pay it or they gladly shut your ass off with a smile on their faces.

I think most of GLP can see a clear picture from this all
We're the testing ground for all this shit. Coming to a city near you.
But we all knew this year's ago
The smart ones with the money to do so have already got set up with water collection & filtration because we all KNEW something like this would be coming our way. This should be a wake up call for all of you to secure your own fresh drinking water

Nestle bottled water is just filtered city water. Around here it's Denver water. I wouldn't let my kids drink that shit. If you aren't out of town on well water, invest in a Zero Water filter. It's the only one that takes out all the poison, including Fluoride. Keep in mind that the filter also takes out trace minerals that you need, so take a supplement.
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Flint was gone a long time ago. It's a visage of decay and the victim of downsizing. The work dried up and if you're stuck there, you need to get the fuck out. I stopped at a gas station and the police pulled me over to the side and asked me what I was doing. I told his getting gas. He told me that no one comes to Flint to get gas and I was probably trying to buy drugs.
