Florida - Lighthouse Point - A boat trip ended for James Bertakis, an 81 year old American with a near death trauma. A Stingray Barb jumped in his boat and nailed his stingray in the heart of James. Even the doctors succeded to take out the 31 cm long stingray, the old man in in very critical conditions. It was a crazy accident said David Donzella, Chef of the Fireworkers of Lighthouse Point in Florida. This reminds the tragic death of Steve Irvin some weeks ago.

The ray was just doing its thing. When it landed inside the boat, it was jumping and flopping. Unfortunately for the victim, he got stuck in the chest with the barb. Man should stay out of the rays natural space and incidents like Mr. Irwin and today's accident would not happen. I have seen rays jumping off the beaches in Florida many times. Not unusual.
