Sure, hemp was used as the primary source for paper for hundreds of years. It is easier to make hemp into paper than wood. It also does not require all the chemical treatments that wood needs to be made into paper, if you've ever drove past a paper making facility, you know the smell is horrendous.

I gave several speeches on the subject throughout high school and college. There was a debate in high school and legalization of hemp/marijuana was one of the topics and I was named as the only person who could not take part in that debate, which I thought was funny.

That is how marijuana use became for me. I was always in love with the plant though.

As for hemp not getting you high...its the same plant, just different names.

The thing is, people think "hemp" is a piece of string and marijuana is a drug. There's no difference.

The only thing done today to differentiate the two is hemp is grown to be very tall and stalky and produce lots of seed. Marijuana is grown to be as high in THC as possible, little stalk and no seed, except in breeding.

The terms have morphed into meaning different things but they are the same plant, just grown differently.

Maxim Miser is right. What is today called hemp will not get you high. I refer to it as industrial hemp, that stuff has be genetically engineered to contain very little THC. Which I might add is irrelevant, other than deterring hordes of stoners from raiding your crops.

But it is still the same plant, some call it weed, pot, mary jane, grass, whatever, still the same plant. It's just taken on two names, one that is considered good by governments "Hemp" and one that is frowned upon "Marijuana".

I think one of the reasons why it's still illegal in most places, is because it looks exactly like the stuff you get high from, and therefore can be used to easily hide the "bad" stuff.

no hes not. it dont get you high cause they grow it for the fibre, they dont give it the right conditions to bud correctly, they let any little bit of bud seed and harvest way before its ripe for smoking.
i can ruin any excellent strain of bud by growing it wrong

We grow hemp here. We had 2 circles under irrigation and another quarter section on dryland.

It can grow 12' - 14' tall under ideal conditions and its very tough, like combining rope and it wraps around shafts, takes out bearings etc.

You have to know what you are doing when growing this crop but its uses are unlimited.

I eat it for breakfast, wouldn't want to start my day without it.

I don't care how well you grow industrial hemp you will not get high off of it. So, therefore he is right.

If you want to argue over how well or how shitty one can grow pot and then get high on it, then so be it, but what he implied from quoting what he did is correct.

hemp was used for rope on the ships...the sails...the clothing. hemp fibre can be as course and longer lasting than denim and thin and softer than silk.

henry ford made a car out of hemp...except for the tires.

hemp is grown closely. popular mechanics came out with a magazine cover with what would have been the new equipement to make American farmers rich. that was bad new for Hearst who loved lumber/paper mills and for the petroleum mongers. this is why it was made illegal...so only the certain few would retain the riches.

anything made of petroleum products can be alternatly made with hemp. plastic...fuel...homes.

birds need the seed to retain good eyesight.

there is more food valu in the hemp seed than in soybeans.

hemp doesn't need herbicides or pesticides.

you won't get high from hemp.

oh yeah...hemp saved the ex president bush's(41) life...his parachute was made of hemp as was his uniform.

I think the benefits would out weigh the the risks if Hemp was legalized.

I have here the empty "Hemp Seed Oil" jug from my fridge at work. I'm gonna do my cuttings in containers made from these black plastic jugs....they're just so pretty with the flaming hemp leaf label and black plastic and all. This 3 litre jug i pay about $55 cdn at the corner health food store.
But , man! I'm reading the label here,,,and i got to almost weep for the poor south-of-the-border people.

So....that's my point. This oil....pressed directly from actual HEMP SEEDS....HAS 0.0% THC. I know. Even this o%-product fucks up the american old-boy school of morality enough to prevent valuable+, cheap, important food from getting to your shelf. It's a shame.

I don't know. I know that even buds that are harvested too late and have 'gone to seed' are smokable and have at least a half the thc or some amount. Or how about "hash-oil". It's the highest of ALL thc products for smoking.

So how is hemp oil diffent.
Now, i don't know, but i heard it was genetically a different plant. I heard it was a third "strain" of 'pot'.....the other two being cannibis sativa and indica. sativa is calif' buds. indica is afghani stunted bud-plants used in hash making.
So that's it.

Well, if this is true then a huge campaign should be undertaken to allow hemp production once more...NOT cannabis. I can't understand at all why things of such obvious value are placed off limits by whoever the hell is behind the curtain.

From what I gather, Hemp is cannabis without the chemical that makes you 'high'. They otherwise look exactly the same and that might be why the feds don't like it?!?

i bet the jeans are excellent. protective clothing might be just great made from it.

the benefits would be for farmers and people.
it would be a cleaner and safer for all.
trees get made into lumber and it wouldn't be needed as hemp can be put together same as straw to build houses (like adobe).
trees get cut for paper mills and bleach is used in making the paper, poisoning the waters around the mills.
clothing, bedding, well anything from toilet paper to writing paper could be made from hemp.

the seeds are valuable in creating health.
the human brain (and i would assume birds also) have thc receptors to handle any thc that may come along.

the USA imports all hemp products meaning once again, the money goes out of the country when the money could stay inside the country.

hemp is grown differently, very close together and is harvested before most seeds develop.

it is the same and that is the excuse the federal government gives for keeping it illegal.

if one were to smoke it you would get a stomachache and headache but no high. it is not grown for getting high.

the jeans/jackets/gloves are great. take the heaviest denim made of cotton and it's weaker than jeans make of hemp.

the lotions/soaps/oils are great for skin/hair.

jewelry made hemp is long lasting and strong.

I hear that hemp oil can be used in a gasoline engine as is without any modification. The oil is the most nutritious oil for human ingestion there is.

No pesticides or fertilizer needed.

It's spiritually criminal that it's not widely used.
