QUESTION: War between US and Russia without nukes, possible?
Preface: This is a theoretical question, not one associated with any current events.

Question: Is it possible for the US and Russia to fight in a country like Iran without the use of nuclear weapons or proxies? How?

My Answer: I'm uncertain of where to go. On one hand it feels like it could be possible, but my concern is that it would be just too enticing to attack production/manufacturing in the US/Russia via airplane to contain the combat. Further, I assume each country knows this, so direct fighting in a 3rd parties country is avoided because it would lead to direct confrontation.

There's also further issue for Russia in that the US's ability to project power is unrivaled. They would be hard pressed to put boots on the ground anywhere but Alaska.

Russia knowing this I think means any direct conflict means push the red button.

Extra Credit Question: If at some point a country gets the ability to prevent MAD, do they use it to conquer the world?

the answer to your question is no.

because the pentagon would have already tried it if it didn't mean DC would get vaporized.

That's an interesting way to look at it. Could something change to make it possible you think?

IF there is a country capable of avoiding MAD; it is Switzerland. The BIS could fund a war of attrition against any country, even America!

Having the entire world declare open war against America would be the only way Obama could be stopped in his quest to be Dictator for Life!

Russia just had a jet with hundreds of people blown out of the sky by useless sub-human terrorists and all they have been doing is bombing.

There will be no nukes. Too many scared bitches in this soft world now.

Re: QUESTION: War between US and Russia without nukes, possible?
Thus far the closest you have seen to it is Amerika's failed bid to launch a naval attack on Syria - I could see by the look on Lavrov's face that he looked over the edge and Russia's response was not going to be fun and games. Luckily the USA petro-zio tards took the chem weapons out that handed to them and they backed off.

The petrodollar empire is literally collapsing and nothing is off the table at this point would be my answer - it is a wounded and unpredictable animal.

Sure, but could the two openly fight without it becoming a nuke fest? Russia fighting in Syria and the US fighting in Syria isn't the same as the US fighting Russians in Syria. That situation doesn't involve US directly fighting Russia, at least I'm not aware that it does.

are there any flags to hint that this might happen? It'd be good to not be near a big city or military target

I agree, it is a matter of if not when nukes will fly in my mind. That said, there is always the option of defense from those missiles that could negate the drawback quite significantly.

Of course not. Why would you even entertain such a boneheaded idea?

If such a thing were ever to occur I would promptly conclude that nuclear weapons were a titanic hoax concocted by the league of nations group in a bid for world peace.

Harsh.

I entertain it because I see it like 2 people at a park. They get into a fight, beat each other up, or whatever. They don't take TNT back to the others house and blow that shit up, ya know?

Two people at a park playing with switchblades, open carrying rifles and otherwise armed to the teeth while their group of belligerent, and also heavily armed friends looks on?

The reason for conflict doesn't dictate method of conflict, the fact that one is in a fight is the reason one keeps fighting.

The only reason I'm harsh is that I keep seeing this notion of conventional war between nuclear power pop up, and it's outrageously dangerous.

So with that line of thinking, there can be no conflict without MAD at all between any major power. Until someone builds a missile defense system capable of defending them from thousands of simultaneous missiles, right?

I tend to like your initial statement because it seems to back another notion I like. That is, if nukes were going to be launched, they would have already been launched. The pentagon would have found a reason to launch them.

That line of thinking leads me down my aux question. If a country knew it was capable of winning that war and nobody else was, that's a pretty tempting power to put in someones hands...

I don't devalue your input because of the harshness, the direct attack was perhaps uncalled for though.

I did, in my OP specifically mention that I believe "any direct conflict means push the red button." I asked for other opinions because there is a part of me that feels like it should be possible to have a military conflict without it going nuclear.

I am ultimately hoping someone has a different viewpoint with a good reason for why it could be possible.

Fair enough. That said, I'm pretty sure no one will bring a different viewpoint, because I'm pretty sure it's not possible.
