The Gospel of Mark (Markos) is acknowledged as having existed before the other three. Scholars all point to evidence that the authors of the other gospels knew not of each others gospel writings but all knew of Markos, A Greek. It is indeed western in every sense of the word.

Markos was the first written gospel. Its author was Greek of course. It does t get more western than that.

Even in Roman times, most elites spoke and read Greek because most of the worlds writings were written in Greek.
