Re: What in the hell is a 'lightworker'?
During a more blissful moment upon this path, I once laughed at the term lightworker, not for the same reasons as some of the posters here, but because walking in the light was so easy, sharing it so joyous that I laughed at how only a human mind could make it seem like work, alas, I had a lot to learn.

To call myself such a thing now, would require a clear definition of terms and explanation of motivation, because as we all know, nothing is free right? I must have some form of self gratifying motivation for painting a target on myself here?

In this context:
I define Light as that which gives life, synomonous (to me) with Love.
I define Lightworker as one who works to help maintain/enhance light in the world.

The dark side of humanity is afraid of the light and works dillegently to destroy it, which is impossible. The best they can hope to achieve is to destroy the 'belief' in light/love in the hearts and minds of the masses by overshadowing it with pain and fear.

As a lightworker, I attempt to maintain belief in light/love, first within myself, second with anyone who will allow me to influence them. It is work too. Speak too boldly of being able to love anyone and I guarantee, you can be tested, severly. Step in too quickly to assist an abused person and you can find yourself turned over to the abuser. Walk with a smile amongst some people and you're sure to attract the one who shall endeavor to slap the smile off your face. The work then becomes getting back to the place where I can love and accept the tester, the abuser and the one who slaps.

Why?
The $64K question.
There's got to be a catch.

In the best of times I would answer like Neo did in the end, "Because I choose to."
In the worst of times I fall back on my programming, "I was wired to be this way."

As a simple human prone to have selfish instincts, I would say it's the opposite of the old adage, "Misery loves company." Opposite of this being, "Love loves company." :) ~ When my words or actions strike a chord and spark a bit of love or hope in another, it's reciprocated within me. Like a lil joy burst. It's my selfish desire to share this joy and hope with as many people as possible. The Light 'Work' is the endeavor to get people to believe in something good whilst opposing fources use all of 'our' resources to convince us that love is a joke and hope is for fools.

About Lightworkers

A Lightworker is a spiritual being who has incarnated on Earth. Their purpose is to awaken Humanity. They inspire others to develop their own unique abilities. Anyone can be a Lightworker. Any age group, gender, race, or religion.

Lightworkers born since 1971 are usually referred to as "Starseeds." Lightworkers born from the late 1980’s are "Indigo Children." Each have their own individual and combined tasks to perform.

Many Lightworkers chose to incarnate from the mid 1940’s on. These special souls are called Baby Boomers. They are the parents of Starseeds and the grandparents of Indigo Children. They are here to encourage their Starseed children to develop their spiritual abilities. They experienced the hippy days of the 1960’s, free love, and radical religious concepts. They are open, loving, and lenient with their children. Lightworkers have attempted to eliminate the stereotypes of male and female behavior.

Women’s Liberation occurred during their youth. Women gained more equal status in male-dominated society. Many Lightworkers are the product of Racial Integration. These Light Beings incarnated to bring love to the planet, as nuclear threat and the Cold War loomed menacingly over humanity.

The UFO sightings in the later part of the 1940’s and the perceived threat of extraterrestrials, also encouraged Lightworkers to incarnate. They assisted in bringing harmony to this reality.

Many Lightworkers started the New Age Movement. They released traditional forms of religion and began to explore their own psyches.

Lightworkers have encouraged their children to investigate religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, and eastern concepts. Lightworkers promoted self exploration in psychology, psychiatry, and alternative counseling practices.

They have instigated new and ancient healing techniques such as reflexology, hypnosis, flower remedies, naturopathy, and reiki. Light beings have opened their minds to the possibility of alien life, UFO's, nature kingdoms, other dimensions, and angelic influences.

Many have led peace marches and protests. They have raised society’s consciousness toward the environment and humane treatment of animals. Lightworkers have developed a respect for Mother Nature, creating organizations such as Green Peace. They are concerned with people living in Third World countries. They have actively promoted voluntary groups to aid oppressed people.

Their contribution to society has been invaluable. Yet, while many work to better planet Earth, others have not awakened to their unlimited possibilities. The purpose of this section is to assist Lightworkers in realizing their own Divine Being!

Your comment reminds me of an earlier time, when I was witness to some gurus filling newbies up with 'enlightenment' ~ I had grown frustrated at it all but could not argue well with wisdom so much grander than mine... then this bit of play came out and was offered instead of debate.

Got A Match?

....Amazing thing happened last night. Thomas Edison came to visit, must have been slumming in his time machine .... It was dark in the room, so I suggested turning on some light, so I could see him better. He offered a match for a candle. I declined saying, "I can just turn on the light."

"Oh you silly young man", he responded. "You can't just turn on a light, it takes years of work. Why I dedicated an entire lifetime to this task."

"But sir", I replied, "Thanks to you, I can just go flip a switch over there, and have all the light I want."

He proceeded to explain the years of trial, thousands of failed experiments and the personal fulfillment of the struggle. Oh there was fighting with depression, the insults of disbelievers and the concerns over money as he found his way, but no matter. He truly felt that the struggle itself was the icing on the cake of life. I was so happy for him that I became drawn into the romance of his reality, feeling so full of energy myself, having been given such an intriguing mission.

Setting out to do it his way, I walked across the dark room to get a candle, tripped over the footstool breaking my big toe, and bumped into the china cabinet, sending a shower of glass across the living room. Ah Life, it's great.

.....Back later, still have a mess to clean up.

peace

light1 [lahyt] work‧er [wur-ker]

1. New ager. Common term for ascended master.

2. Mexican. Any laborer that looks like they are working, but is actually just too lazy to work. i.e. working "lightly"

3. Electrician. Someone who fixes lights.

4. A Mexican New Ager Electrician. One that thinks about the light, stares at the light but doesn't understand the light, and is too lazy to fix it when it breaks.

peace to all and no offense given!!!

Say what you want about Mexicans, but you'll never see one begging for f*cking money. They WORK, and btw they do all those jobs that "other" people deem too lowly for them to do.. I get asked for money most often by white people, but I ALWAYS see Mexican laborers looking for work. I've never been asked for a hand out by a Mexican, ever.
