Thought Experiment about Spacetime
Imagine running around in a circle faster than the speed of light.

You would eventually "overlap" your old self.

You then adjust the speed you're running at to the speed of light.

Now you are running beside an older version of yourself.

Since you've been there done that, you know what you thought at that moment in time, it already happened after all, you were there.

Is the guy you see trying to catch up to you, which he will eventually just not on this timeline, already you?`

He has not seen himself yet, how could he, he is slower than the speed it took for the information of him being there to actually come into reality.

It's a mindfuck really.

Are you two yet?

Now the information of him being there, is actually the future version of yourself.

Who counted?

Similar to watching a movie of yourself that was made an hour ago. As long as you can't interfere with that earlier you then everything's OK.

By the time you got fast enough to overrun your old self, your old self would not exist anymore...plus you would be at infinite mass. You wouldn't want your old self to see you that fat.

You are observing light, your mass is still the same mass regardless.

I just looked in the mirror. I was a witness and the experiment.

Interesting, but doesnt time slow down if you go faster than the speed of light? So wouldnt it take a very long time to catch up?

Re: Thought Experiment about Spacetime
Doesnt work that way.

Time remains the same to you in your reference frame and you cant have two reference frames.

Just becuase you can imagine it does not make it possible. I can imagine knowing a particle's position and momentum simultaneously, but that is not possible! (Uncertianty Principle)

Re: Thought Experiment about Spacetime
That's the mindfuck. It is not time trying to catch up. It is a seperation of timelines into two parallel realities after you go past the ability to apply thought to the information which is presented to our brains via our senses.

The timelines won't ever fuse, for once the older you is starting to speed up to get to your timeline "lap/round" he will simply create an older version of himself which he will then visit.

I think, oh gawd, my brain just melted. Gotta go have a fag.

After reaching the speed of light, matter flips from Space-Time into Time-Space. Now space is linear and time is 3D. Imagine with this in mind and maybe the separation won't matter.

Why does it takes physical motions to be beyond the way points of light? Isn't that's a paradox?
