I would stay in contact. People that don't share kids with an ex don't get it. I know that my ex and I are always going to be on touch regarding our kids. If a guy in my life is uncomfortable with this... oh well. I know that no one else knows or cares about our children better than us.

If your talking about random everyday things ie weather, politics, films, music and so forth this is nice but in the eyes of your current wife it isn't, therefore its not essential for you to have those conversations....

I realise it sounds quite draconian but its the way life rolls.

re-married - 3 kids all grown just us 2 now

x lives close by and we see her rarely

I have shared from my heart the truth about my X and my true feelings toward her

When I am around her I am around my 3 older children that I love deeply and I am very kind to the mother of these 3 children - I will give her a hug and I am very respectful to her and her husband

You have to be true at all times

The issue is not you - it is your wifes issue and you have to help her feel your love and understand a love and concern that is natural for you X

Cues may be coming in from other places. Kids can do the darnedest things and if they would like to see the family reunited, dropping tidbits of sentimentality from family days would be enough. Forsake all others. Your kids will have a family and just like all families, be caught up in daily routines and seeing them on holidays and birthdays is what most people experience, and being alone in this world is NEVER good. If you love your wife, talk about this. Are you the kind of guy who keeps a passing woman's eye (waitress, desk clerk, whatever) and chats her up, just to be "friendly" in front of her. Wink at women? Talk about your kids incessantly like you were a childhood friend rather than daddy?

My father went off to be with a lady. I always said I wanted him to come home but really, it was for me, not for my mom. My mom was miserable and disagreeable. With the new lady, I saw my dad really happy for the first time. They were a perfect couple and I was truly proud to go places with them, go to stay with them. BTW, my mother threw a wrench into that at every chance, just to fuck with them because even she saw that my father's new found happiness was a reflection on her, who drove him out with every conversation ending with her saying "oh jesus christ, not that again" and one day he just never came back. He looked defeated. Destroying people's happiness became her full time job. Have a trusted friend for when you get old and show our kids how 2 adults are when passionately in love, otherwise, they will never have had an example set.

So, OP, is your ex remarried, in a relationship or single? And are these physical visits,lunch, or phone calls? How often? DO YOU BUY HER GIFTS or send her cards. And when were the pants were down when ex was in the same room exactly? Forsake all others. Unless playing a game is what this is about.
