Eternity in common parlance is an infinitely long period of time. In classical philosophy, however, eternity is defined as what exists outside time while sempiternity is the concept that corresponds to the colloquial definition of eternity.

Eternity is an important concept in many religions, where the god or gods are said to endure eternally. Some, such as Aristotle, would say the same about the natural cosmos in regard to both past and future eternal duration, and like the eternal Platonic forms, immutability was considered essential.

As support for the measurement of the movement of the Earth's axis through the sky by the Sumerians, we have the Stonehenge type constructions that align the sunrise at solstice with a passage or two points. Thus there would be slow movement of where the sunlight hits at the end of a passage, say, and this would give a way to calculate the movement of the Earth's north pole.

And thus the wobble speed was slowed by some gravity or tidal-type effect and thus the angular distance the north pole moved was lessened. Presumably the wobble speed has come to equilibrium but maybe not and measurements might support a decay of the wobble speed, but still the Noah's flood planetary interaction would have changed the wobble speed considerably.

Hekla is one of the world’s most active volcanos. It was thought to be the gate to hell, and the prison where the traitor Judas was tormented. And its most cataclysmic eruption in human history took place sometime around the year 1,100 BC, an event known as Hekla 3. This idea, called quantum Darwinism (QD), explains a lot about why we experience the world the way we do rather than in the peculiar way it manifests at the scale of atoms and fundamental particles. Although aspects of the puzzle remain unresolved, QD helps heal the apparent rift between quantum and classical physics.

Only recently, however, has quantum Darwinism been put to the experimental test. Three research groups, working independently in Italy, China and Germany, have looked for the telltale signature of the natural selection process by which information about a quantum system gets repeatedly imprinted on various controlled environments. These tests are rudimentary, and experts say there’s still much more to be done before we can feel sure that QD provides the right picture of how our concrete reality condenses from the multiple options that quantum mechanics offers. Yet so far, the theory checks out.
