Among the many solutions proposed for this problem, one really brings us down to Earth: aliens might be scared of other aliens.

Raptor is designed to power the new reusable vehicles SpaceX’s is building, the Starship spacecraft and the Super Heavy rocket. Combined, these vast machines are designed to take up to 100 people into space, possibly to the Moon and Mars, with a tentative launch of humans around the Moon planned in 2023. SpaceX tested the first flight-ready version of Raptor in February 2019 and, last week, it flew a Raptor for the first time on a “hop” test of a prototype of Starship, called Starhopper.

The European Service Module, designed to keep Orion alive during much of the flight, is also complete. The European Space Agency contribution arrived last year, and engineers are still working to connect the two modules together. September is the current target for completion of the work and shipment of the completed stack to a test facility.

While Artemis 1 will not have a crew, Artemis 2 is expected to send astronauts around the Moon and Artemis 3 is planned to see the first boots on the lunar surface in more than 50 years, in 2024.

"SpaceX Corporation is retargeting the liftoff of the firm's next Falcon 9 rocket to early November. The launch includes the debut test flight of the first operational Dragon spacecraft built by SpaceX. Blast off would now take place about a week after the final scheduled flight of Space Shuttle Discovery - currently slated for Nov.1 - instead of a few days ahead that launch."

"SpaceX will work with Glenn and Marshall to advance technology needed to transfer propellant in orbit, an important step in the development of the company’s Starship space vehicle," the NASA news release states. This is a significant announcement for reasons both technical and political.

Musk envisions the first version of Neuralink to be trialed in humans by the end of 2020. And if Musk realizes his ultimate vision for Neuralink, the human brain will one day achieve “symbiosis with artificial intelligence” in the not-so-distant future ahead.

And a Harvard study suggests that where those areas show up is no accident.

Led by Assistant Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences Roger Fu, a team of researchers has shown that artisans carved the figures so that the magnetic areas fell at the navel or right temple — suggesting not only that Mesoamerican people were familiar with the concept of magnetism but also that they had some way of detecting the magnetized spots. The study is described in an April 12 paper published in the Journal of Archaeological Science.

“Our direct observation is that there are magnetic anomalies consistently on certain features of these sculptures,” Fu said. “And the question we asked is whether this is consistent with random chance, or does it require some knowledge or some awareness of where those anomalies are?

“There’s some chance it could happen randomly, but as we find more and more sculptures that are aligned like this, the smaller than likelihood is,” he continued. “In this paper, we looked at four, and we found a less than 1 percent chance that this wasn’t intentional.”

A close study of the anomalies, Fu said, showed they could only have been caused by one source — lightning.

To recognise the presence and effect of electricity in space is to concede the possibility that the current gravity-centric view of the universe is wrong. This would mean that some of the 'giants' of modern cosmology have totally cocked up, that their Nobel Prizes and other awards were essentially unmerited and that the greater part of the contents of cosmology courses in institutions of higher learning is worthless. There is a 'knock-on' effect in other branches of science, not the least of which is the politically sensitive subject of climate.

The cosmologists have effectively painted themselves into a corner. Electricity in space is the spawn of the anti-Christ and no concessions can be made. Reputations, careers and pensions are at stake. Under the circumstances, objective scientific truth is nigh irrelevant. Don't hold your breath waiting for a general epiphany: any move in this direction will be strangled at birth by the guardians of orthodoxy.
