A hero can turn any intangible quality of the human being into pure functional life. Especially love.

a hero simply does what needs to be done, selflessly

a hero? you know, the guy that gets up when it's still dark and works his but off all day, comes home and hugs his kids and kisses his wife. makes liitle money, but makes sure his family eats good and has new clothes to wear, but wears old tattered clothes himself. makes everyone around him feel good, never complains when things are difficult and never speaks a mean word about anybody. that guy? yea, my dad is my hero. yours?

a hero is someone who acts on principle in the face of strong incentives to act otherwise.

when you overcome temptation you're a hero.

when you do the right thing when everyone else is encouraging you to do otherwise, you're a hero.

when you blow the whistle on illegal activity, knowing it will likely cost you your job, you're a hero.

when you charge the hill, despite being scared shitless, you're a hero.

most people don't usually aspire to be heros, its circumstance that usually creates heroic opportunities.

unfortunately, we've confused stardom and heroism. heros sacrifice.

when a true hero is recognized it's rather stunning, so rare today.

1) you gotta know the principles
2) you gotta care about yourself
3) you gotta be willing to sacrifice

No mean feet these.

A hero is some one who saves someone else from thier own short sightedness. Most of the time the hero is rejected because the saved person has too much pride to admit they needed saving.

we had this very discussion tonight. we all agreed a real hero is whoever sticks up for their family and friends

'for the glory' a hero exists . . .

A human being who is totally, authentic.

A hero can be a man or a woman...

Someone who knows the true meaning of love.

Who is courageous in defending their beliefs.

Someone who would stand up and fight for you.

Someone who is there for you in times of need

Someone who is giving and never asks for anything in return.

So a hero is anyone you stand behind.

some people might need to walk away from dysfunctional families or friends.

there's no selflessness in this definition.

but can a hero have no family and still be a hero but in a different way?

A hero stands by the truth and will not give in (unless he or she turns it over in their mind and suffers to know ) for anything they know is a lie and cannot be bought at any price. And sees the big picture and will do what has to be done for the greater good.

And will use no violence (because they are wiser than that) but will use intangible qualities as the most functional tools there are.

This may sound corny. but its true, my dad has always been my hero ( I'm 45) he taught me by doing. He has been married to my mother for 47 yrs ( I've made it 21 yrs) He taught me honesty and how to treat his fellow man. One of his best friends is a black man, I call him "uncle Rick" I've known him all my life. Yes my dad is my hero and I hope someday my two boys will say the same thing about me!

Deffinetly pattern my life after my Dad's example

As far as family members go i would have to say my Grandmother is my hero. Little old lady was the toughest but most fair person ive ever known in my life.

Hero- Someone in your life that has made you behave in a different way for a positive reason
