When you just ask a question like that for peoples personal info, it's considered data mining.

Change your post to something more appropriate, like what kind of advice you are looking for or giving, and you will get a better response.

I'm VERY familiar with all the cluster B types.

Yes I married and divorced one. Was quit the drama fest with him. The most important advice I have to give is, Are you ready? absolutely no contact when he is gone, and I mean NO contact, Which is an easy thing for him to do, because he is off to his next victim and could care less about you, You may be tempted to contact him, because you never really get closure with these types. Good luck and God Bless.

That's a great insight, and I've been around here long enough to know better than to post something like this. But, people who post their personal stories in the OP usually get torn to shreds around here.

This is probably not the best place for my question, in retrospect.

And, I'm sorry you're familiar with the cluster B personality types. Bless your heart.

I did leave! I appreciate you giving me credit for that.

I dedicated the last few years of my life to learning about and understanding personality disorders. If only that topic was a required course in high school! It would save many of us from frustration and wasted time.

I will admit dealing with it all and coming out of it has made me strong. I am thankful for that :)

Re: Anyone ever dated, married, or divorced a narcissist?
I believe these was research that showed most CEO's and successful high level people are narcissistic. They don't waste time wondering if problems are their fault- they assume everyone else is wrong and charge on.
Success is a hallmark of narcissistic personality disorder.

My narcist is with his next victim. I have almost no contact. I participate in family functions like weddings with trepidation and make the best of any private time I get with the kids.

My resolve to have no contact was for my protection because every intersection is abusive in some way.

Once I was "replaced" he ignored my role as mother to our children - even to not contacting me when our college son was hospitalized for a week - he was unable to contact me and the other sibs were probably told not to contact me.

Of all that has happened I believe this was the worst.

Narcissistic people get away with a lot because they are respected for their paycheck and position. If people knew ...

Same here. This is very wise advice & the only best course of action to take. My ex was a sociopath who managed to gaslight me quite easily. These are emotionally toxic people who will suck the life out of you & not bat an eyelash. You may be begging for air, but they will only admire how nice their manicure looks w/ their hands wrapped around your throat. Run. Don't look back.

So wait, you let him bang you for YEARS and take away your dignity in bed -- all while he probably sneered inside about how he was dominating you sexually... and yet now you suddenly get this epiphany about how bad Narcissists are.

What were you thinking when you started dating him?
What were you thinking when you let him into your freakin' bed!
Where was your female dignity then - when you decided to marry him?

So weird how some people seek intimacy with narcissists, and yet later act like with such a shock at how bad the whole thing was.

I wouldn't let a narcissist touch me, let alone bang me silly night in and night out, for years.

Re: Anyone ever dated, married, or divorced a narcissist?
yes, and they only cared about me in relation to them and how I made them feel. Whenever I did something creative or something that was about my work, they were dismissive or critical. "Pat on the head" kind of attitude at best, and then they would find some other reason to chastise me if they could not overtly criticise.
These people want your time and energy to be devoted to them and when you don't, they find fault in you in the stupidest ways.
So long story short, I screwed this person over.peace

Yes, anyone who lets a narcissist into their life for too long is a train wreck. It's a pre-requisite.

My entire life has been a struggle to overcome the insidious genes he dealt me. No contact AT ALL is really the only way to deal with a person like that.

Everyone is a narcissist, in some way.

Every single person on earth is a hypocrite.

It's those that think they are neither that are to be avoided.

My mother is one -- sociopath & narcissist. Best thing i ever did was to completely cut her out of my life. You have to COMPLETELY cut them out -- if you show any sign of softening, they will zero in on the weakness and be right back to their hateful games.

Good thing is, after experiencing one of these people, I can spot one within a few minutes of conversation. That is the only good that comes from experiencing one -- being able to avoid any future ones.

Oh, and it is possible to to use their own tactics to really screw with them, but I do not advise it unless you are REALLY strong. Best just to steer clear.

Dated and lived with one for two years. Their problem is they never realize they are the source of their failures, and refuse to admit that while blaming everyone around them.
