History always repeats itself, and if you can live two lives, you have an even greater chance of seeing that repetition with your own eyes. During the last six years of my other life, as a Romanian intelligence general, the main task of the Soviet bloc espionage community was to transform Yasser Arafat’s war against Israel and its main supporter, the United States, into an armed doctrine of the whole Islamic world. America was our main enemy, and a billion adversaries could inflict far greater damage on it than could a mere one million. Islamic anti-Semitism ran deep. Our task was to convert its historical hatred of the Jews into a new hatred of the United States, by portraying this land of freedom as an “imperial Zionist country” financed by Jewish money and run by a rapacious “Council of the Elders of Zion,” the Kremlin’s epithet for the US Congress.

According to KGB theorists, the Islamic world was a petri dish in which we could nurture a virulent strain of America-hate. Islamic cultures had a taste for nationalism, jingoism and victimology. Their illiterate, oppressed mobs could be whipped up to a fever pitch. Terrorism and violence against America would flow naturally from their religious fervor. We had only to keep repeating, over and over, that the United States was a “Zionist country” bankrolled by rich Jews. Islam was obsessed with preventing the infidel’s occupation of its territory, and it would be highly receptive to our dogma that American imperialism wanted to transform the rest of the world into a Jewish fiefdom.

Before I left Romania for good, in 1978, the Soviet bloc intelligence community flooded the Islamic world with Arabic translations of an old Russian, forged, anti-Semitic tract entitled Protocols of the Elders of Zion, along with “documentary” materials, also in Arabic, “proving” that the United States was a Zionist country governed by Jewish money, whose aim was to extend its domination over the rest of the world. We also infiltrated the Islamic world with thousands of Soviet bloc Islamic citizens recruited as intelligence agents and tasked to implant there a rabid, demented hatred for American Zionism. They were to portray everybody and everything in America as being subordinated to Jewish interests: the leaders, the government, the political parties, the most prominent personalities—and even American history. Most of these agents were religious servants, engineers, medical doctors or teachers, and they had excellent credibility.

In 1984 a book was published with the title New Lies for Old. It was written by Soviet KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn. The book claimed that the Soviet Union had a secret long-term strategy to disarm and defeat the United States through a controlled collapse of the Soviet empire that would take place in the last decade of the twentieth century. In the book's most remarkable chapter, titled "The Final Phase," Golitsyn accurately described the future of the Soviet bloc. Communism would give up its monopoly of power in Russia, he explained, as apparent freedom and democracy would be introduced. The communist Warsaw Pact alliance would be dissolved. The Berlin Wall might be taken down and Germany united as "the key to progress toward a neutral, socialist Europe."

Controlled democratization and liberalization would be facilitated by communist agents within the dissident movements of Eastern Europe. As Golitsyn wrote, "the liberalization would be calculated and deceptive in that it would be introduced from above. It would be carried out by the party through its cells and individual members in government, the Supreme Soviet, the courts, and the electoral machinery and by the KGB through its agents among the intellectuals and scientists." (p. 339-340.)

Golitsyn's book has been dismissed as nonsense by CIA experts, pundits and journalists. "Yet of Golitsyn's falsifiable predictions, 139 out of 148 were fulfilled by the end of 1993 -- an accuracy rate of nearly 94 percent," according to Mark Riebling's history of the FBI and CIA titled Wedge.

The correctness of Golitsyn's predictions have also been shown by researchers and journalists reporting on events in Eastern Europe. These include the stunning revelations of Andrei Codrescu about the 1989 Romanian Revolution, in his book The Hole in the Flag, as well as revelations by Polish author Darius Rohnka in his book Fatalna Fikcja ("The Fatal Fiction") and the works of Czech activist Petr Cibulka.

We also have the personal analysis of two GRU defectors. The famous spy and author, Viktor Rezun (a.k.a. Viktor Suvorov), told Christopher Story of Soviet Analyst that the collapse of the Soviet Union was undoubtedly a deception. When asked how Western intelligence could fail to see this deception, Rezun answered, "Because they are stupid." At the same time, GRU defector Stanislav Lunev has also suggested that the collapse of the Soviet Union must have been part of a strategic plan, although he says the plan went awry and led to the unintended derailment of Marxism-Leninism in the former bloc countries. However, he admits, this is no obstacle to Kremlin strategy, since Moscow's communist era objectives remain unchanged with KGB officer Vladimir Putin at the helm.

Evidence of a long range Soviet strategy of controlled democratization and fake collapse for the purpose of disarming the West also appears in the writings of the high level Czech defector Jan Sejna. In his 1982 book, We Will Bury You, Sejna wrote of a plan to “convince the Capitalist countries that they had no need of military alliances.” He added that, “To this end we envisaged that it might be necessary to dissolve the Warsaw Pact, in which event we had already prepared a web of bilateral defence arrangements, to be supervised by secret committees of Comecon.”

The evidence for strategic deception is rich and verifiable. It is not material invented by kooks, but solidly based in reality. Americans do not realize the extent to which the Chechen wars were Kremlin-inspired provocations, openly alluded to by Russia’s ranking Chechen official, Mufti Kadyrov. They do not realize the suspicious backgrounds of leading Chechen Muslims, or the fact that al Qaeda’s Number Two man spent several months in Russia only to be released under mysterious circumstances. Could it be a coincidence that terrorism expert Yossef Bodansky alleges that bin Laden’s acquired nuclear weapons via Chechnya, from Russian sources?

The pieces of the puzzle are in front of our eyes. But Americans will not believe their eyes. No matter how carefully the evidence is laid out, the public and American officials reject the idea of an ongoing Soviet deception strategy to bring America to its knees.

A few months before the attack on the World Trade Center, Fidel Castro visited Iran. He said that working together, they could bring down the United States. It is significant that Russia and China are now allied, and engage in regular joint military exercises. It is significant that communist dictators are emerging in Venezuela, Ecuador and Brazil. It is also significant that Europe is slipping into “socialist neutrality.”

The danger is very great. But Americans will not believe in this danger because we feel superior. We feel invulnerable. Why should anyone conspire to destroy America? The answer is simple. The answer is that inferior nation-states, like inferior persons, sometimes hate those who are superior.

Julien Benda once wrote: “Our age is the age of the intellectual organization of political hatreds.” Now ask yourself who the organizers of political hatred are, and which nations have been targeted? Today, the central targets of organized political hatred are Israel and the United States.

First you hate, then you dehumanize, then you kill. That is the formula for mass destruction warfare. You don’t begin a war by nuking enemy cities. You begin by organizing hatred against target populations. You dehumanize your target. When you have united a large enough mass behind you, and they are eager for blood, then you can unleash your weapons of mass destruction. The world will stand up and cheer, and you will be its new master.

Hatred is a powerful unifying force. In his book, “The True Believer,” Eric Hoffer wrote: “hatred is not always directed against those who wronged us.” In fact, it is often directed at the good, the superior and the fortunate. Seeing that someone is superior to ourselves, we sometimes think ill of our abilities and prospects. “Self contempt produces in man the most unjust and criminal passions,” wrote Hoffer, who explained that hatred is often “an expression of a desperate effort to suppress an awareness of our inadequacy, worthlessness, guilt and other shortcomings of the self.”

If we look at the world around us, at the Arab world, the Chinese and the Russians, we find national inferiority complexes at work. And these help to explain the war preparations of Russia and China, and their justification by officials like Gen. Chi Haotian of China’s Communist Party Central Military Commission, who said in 1999: “War [with American imperialism] is inevitable. We cannot avoid it.” He also explained, “We must be prepared to fight for one year, two years, or even longer.”

Lieberman sees himself as the savior of Jewish homeland

As of late, the Israeli establishment is divided into those who are convinced Avigdor Lieberman is a monster, a neo-fascist, and an enemy of the democratic rule of law, and those who believe he is the national savior, the only politician with enough courage not only to present solutions but also to execute them.

Yet the possibility of another option shouldn't be overlooked. Namely, Lieberman is a childish politician, nice on a personal level and infantile on the public level. At 48, after some 20 years in politics and sky-rocketing pretensions, we could have expected a little more earnestness from him.

Lieberman is convinced that Israel is on the verge of collapse. This is what he told Sima Kadmon in a weekend interview granted to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, and he has repeated this on several other occasions as well. If Israel is not destroyed by the Iranian bomb, it will collapse under the weight of internal pressure. There's only a dash of hope: Me, Avigdor Lieberman.

Now take these bombastic words and try to apply them to reality. The cabinet convened Sunday and voted for Lieberman's proposal to introduce presidential rule. The draft bill was passed by a single vote, despite the fact that all the cabinet ministers opposed it; each had their own reasons.

The majority of Knesset members also appose the bill, and if the draft isn't completely mutilated along the way, it will be dropped during the voting process. Nonetheless, Lieberman turned the vote for the bill into an imperative condition; if the cabinet doesn't approve it, he will not save the homeland.

Give him a joystick and he'll be happy

Olmert joined this game willingly: He's addicted to games whether it's soccer, basketball or Lieberman. The popular argument is that a grand conspiracy is taking place, a spin, a device aimed at diverting public opinion.

Often it appears that the truth is a lot less favorable: Olmert enters these games as a tactic to divert his own thinking. He's comfortable in the virtual world, far from Iran's centrifuges and the tunnels in the Philadelphi Route. Give him a joystick and he'll be happy.

Lieberman knows that even if he joins the government, his chances of saving the homeland are slim. He has already served two stints as a minister in the cabinet and his influence over its policies was negligent.

He knows that the post Olmert offered him, to coordinate the handling of strategic threats facing the country, is downright mockery. Olmert already erred once when he appointed Amir Peretz to the post of defense minister; such a mistake is not made twice.

Vitality and charm of an immigrant

Lieberman is a veteran Israeli: He has resided in Israel for the past 28 years; he breaths its air and experiences its experiences. In addition, he has the vitality and charm of an immigrant.

He packs his bags easily: He doesn't become transfixed on an idea, a person or a seat. It's no wonder, therefore, that another talented immigrant, Arieh Deri, regards him as a friend. These two reflect all the weaknesses of veteran Israel.

Yet he is also the product of the USSR's imperialist ideas. He is a homo sovieticus (one who is totally oppressed by and totally depends on the State). He has no patience for the surgical, partial solutions that enabled Israel to survive, develop and thrive for 58 years in a hostile region. Much of his criticism of Arabs is justified, yet his conclusions are hallucinatory.

By mere words he bombs the Aswan Dam; expands residential neighborhoods in Gaza and destroys a peace process with Syria. Only a few months ago he suggested an exchange of territories with a Palestinian State. Now he is proclaiming that he will not surrender any land. Is he an extremist? Absolutely. But, most importantly, he can't be taken seriously.

Upon entering Olmert's cabinet, he'll sit close to the exit. His inclusion in the government would in the first phase contribute to its stabilization and in the second phase to its collapse. Cabinet meetings will turn into a political circus between the quasi Left and quasi Right wings.

Based on past experience, the moment Olmert makes a move unpopular with the Right, Lieberman would burn the house down.

It may be said in his favor that he will do so with finesse.

Soviet Treatment of the Jews

Soviet Jews have experienced a long history of persecution and anti-Semitism. During World War II Jews in Russia and the Ukraine were often killed by locals who collaborated with the Nazis (4). Over half of the Jews living within the borders of the Soviet Union were annihilated during the Holocaust (1). Those who did survive were often treated with hostility by neighbors when they returned to their homes (4).



The Soviet treatment of Jews occurred in part because Judaism conflicted with the State supported religion, atheism (3). . Anti-Semitism, both institutional and societal, attacked Jewish identity, leading Jews to lose many of their religious traditions and knowledge. During the period following WWII and continuing into the 1980's, the Soviet continued their attack on Jewish culture and spirit, destroying synagogues and other Jewish holy symbols, closing religious schools, and arresting clergy. They were successful in breeding anti-Semitism and eradicating a Soviet Jewish culture that is still struggling to rebuild today (3).

Snapshot: Antisemitism and Religious Persecution in the Former Soviet Union -1998

Based on nearly 30 years of experience in the former Soviet Union (FSU), the Union of Councils for Soviet Jews (UCSJ) has found that the extensive popular antisemitism and the failures of the governments of the FSU to respond to these dangers - a form of neglect that often borders on complicity - is a threat to FSU Jews, other minority religious communities, and democratic reform in the region. This appraisal is shared by many Russian intellectual and political leaders including President Boris Yeltsin, who in an unprecedented statement in May 1998, warned of rising levels of fascism in the Russian Federation.

Throughout the FSU, Jews continue to suffer attacks on their person, property and dignity. Although government-sponsored antisemitism exists at a lower level than during the Soviet period, the dramatic weakening of centralized control in some FSU countries presents Jews, and most of their fellow citizens, with new human rights problems. Particularly in Russia, power has mostly devolved to regional authorities, many of whom are largely unaccountable to the central government when it comes to human rights. Because of the severe economic crisis, the embittered and impoverished populace is searching for someone to blame and antisemitic, racist, or just plain opportunistic political and cultural elites are willing to exploit these negative attitudes towards vulnerable minority populations without regard for the possible consequences.

In Russia, antisemitic statements by Nikolai Kondratenko, the governor of Krasnodar Krai (region), are a cause of great concern. Governor Kondratenko referred to Jews as "Kikes" and "Kike-Masons" over 60 times in a February 1998 speech and has given Cossack organizations the right to form uniformed paramilitary units that patrol city streets. On July 23, 1998, two of these uniformed Cossacks whipped a Seventh-Day Adventist in the city of Anapa. The victim was singled out for this abuse simply because he was passing out bibles in public. These incidences, combined with blatant human rights abuses against people from the Caucasus region of the FSU living in Krasnodar, puts Jews and other religious and ethnic minorities there in extreme danger.

In Moscow, the Marina Roscha Synagogue was bombed in May 1998, the third time the synagogue has been attacked in the past five years. In Nizhny Novgorod, Rabbi Zalman Yoffe, the city's chief rabbi since 1996, was severely beaten by unknown assailants on October 15th. In May, another rabbi, Yitzhak Lifshitz, was badly beaten by skinheads at a subway station in Yaroslavl. The two assailants were subsequently arrested.

Through the enactment of the new religion law ("On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations") in 1997, the Russian government is now carrying out a policy of discrimination against religious minorities. Although the majority of congregations that have been negatively affected by the new religion law belong to Western Christian faiths, a Reform synagogue in Bryansk was denied permission to register as an official religious organization in October 1997, and continued to be denied registration into 1998. In Moscow, local Jehovah's Witnesses were put on trial. The charges against them are based partially on the new religion law and if the prosecution is successful, Jehovah's Witnesses may lose legal status in Moscow as a religious organization. Discrimination under new laws on religion are commonplace in many FSU countries.

Antisemitism in the relatively prosperous and stable Baltic nations demonstrates that this phenomena is not solely the product of economic turmoil. These countries are just now beginning the process of coming to terms with both the Soviet past and the history of the Holocaust on their territory. Disturbingly, investigations into their nations' role in the Holocaust has generated negative reactions including strong antisemitic rhetoric and actions.

In Riga, the city's only synagogue, which was bombed in 1995, was again bombed on April 2, 1998. Riga was also the site of a procession of veterans of the Latvian SS Brigade, men who were responsible for the deaths of thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. Although the national government condemned the procession, several national-level politicians and high ranking military officers took part in the ceremony, including the head of the Latvian Armed Forces, who was later fired for participating. In addition, many articles in the Latvian press blame Jews for atrocities committed against Latvians by the Soviet regime and disavow any blame on the part of Latvians for the Holocaust.

In Lithuania, the Lubavitch-Chasidic community continues to be denied the status of a "traditional religion" and therefore is ineligible for property that belonged to its congregation before the Holocaust. The Lithuanian authorities have also allowed repeated delays of the war crimes trial of Alexander Lileikis, a Lithuanian who handed over Jews to the Nazis. Only on October 18, 1998 was Lileikis found medically fit to stand trial.

In Belarus, much of the tightly controlled state media continues to be a forum for antisemitic propaganda. In March, 1998, a program on Belarussian radio aired a reading of the century-old forgery "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion." This document is a czarist-era fabrication that details a supposed plan for Jewish control of the world.

Ukraine in 1998 witnessed extensive antisemitic propaganda during the parliamentary elections; one candidate actually urged voters not to let "Judeo-Masons" come to power. Ukrainian Jews continued to encounter numerous difficulties in attempting to get property that was confiscated by the Soviet government returned as well as stronger governmental protection for Jewish communal property. In a grave insult to the memory of Ukrainian Jews who perished in the Holocaust, a mass grave of tens of thousands of Jews in Kamenets-Podolsk was used as an unofficial soccer field and a vegetable garden. In addition, UCSJ's Ukrainian-American Bureau on Human Rights has documented rising antisemitism in the Ukrainian press. Articles in the Ukrainian right-wing press blame Jews for the extermination of millions of Ukrainians under the Soviet regime and for the country's current impoverishment. Many articles deny various aspects of the Holocaust, refer to Jews almost exclusively by the pejorative term "Yids," and viciously mock Jewish culture and religion.

Israel used uranium-based warheads in Lebanon war

Studies carried out by a European Union-affiliated organization suggest the Israel Air Force used experimental missiles employing uranium against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, the British newspaper The Independent reported on its website on Saturday.

According to the British Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk, Doctor Chris Busby, tests carried out on soil taken from craters where Israeli missiles impacted showed 'elevated radiation signatures.'

Busby's report concluded that such results could be caused either by bunker-busting conventional bombs using uranium or a new kind of weapon bearing a "novel small experimental nuclear fission device or other experimental weapon (eg, a thermobaric weapon) based on the high temperature of a uranium oxidation flash."

An Italian television report aired last week made a similar claim, raising the possibility that Israel had used a weapon in the Gaza Strip in recent months, causing especially serious physical injuries, such as amputated limbs and severe burns.

The report claimed the weapon is similar to one developed by the U.S. military, known as DIME, which causes a powerful and lethal blast, but only within a relatively small radius.

The Italian report is based on the eyewitness accounts of medical doctors in the Strip, as well as tests carried out in an Italian laboratory. The investigative team is the same one that exposed, several months ago, the use by U.S. forces in Iraq of phosphorous bombs, against Iraqi rebels in Faluja.

Israel Air Force Maj.-Gen (res.) Yitzhak Ben-Israel, formerly head of the IDF's weapons-development program, told the Italian reporters that "one of the ideas [behind the weapon] is to allow those targeted to be hit without causing damage to bystanders or other persons."

The investigation, by Rai24news, follows reports by Gaza-based doctors of inexplicably serious injuries. The doctors reported an exceptionally large number of wounded who lost legs, of completely burned bodies and injuries unaccompanied by metal shrapnel. Some of the doctors also claimed that they removed particles from wounds that could not be seen in an x-ray machine.

According to those who testified, the wounded were hit by munitions launched from drones, most of them in July.

Dr. Habas al-Wahid, head of the emergency room at the Shuhada al-Aqsa hospital, in Deir el-Balah, told the reporters that the legs of the injured were sliced from their bodies "as if a saw was used to cut through the bone." There were signs of heat and burns near the point of the amputation, but no signs that the dismemberment was caused by metal fragments.

Dr. Juma Saka, of Shifa Hospital, in Gaza City, said the doctors found small entry wounds on the bodies of the wounded and the dead. According to Saka, a powder was found on the victims' bodies and in their internal organs.

"The powder was like microscopic shrapnel, and these are what likely caused the injuries," Saka said.

The Italian investigative team raised the possibility that the IDF is making use of a weapon similar in character to DIME - Dense Inert Metal Explosive - developed for the U.S. military. According to the official website of a U.S. air force laboratory, it is a "focused lethality" weapon, which aims to accurately destroy the target while causing minimum damage to the surrounding.

According to the site, the projectile comprises a carbon-fiber casing filled with tungsten powder and explosives. In the explosion, tungsten particles - a metal capable of conducting very high temperatures - spread over a radius of four meters and cause death.

According to the U.S.-based website Defense-Tech, "the result is an incredibly destructive blast in a small area" and "the destructive power of the mixture causes far more damage than pure explosive." It adds that "the impact of the micro-shrapnel seems to cause a similar but more powerful effect than a shockwave."

The weapon is supposed to still be in the testing phase and has not been used on the battlefield.

The Italian reporters sent samples of the particles found in wounds of injured in the Gaza Strip to a laboratory at the University of Parma. Dr. Carmela Vaccaio said that in analyzing the samples, she found "a very high concentration of carbon and the presence of unusual materials," such as copper, aluminum and tungsten. Dr. Vaccaio says these findings "could be in line with the hypothesis" that the weapon in question is DIME.

On the matter of DIME, Ben-Israel told the Italian reporters that "this is a technology that allows the striking of very small targets."

The report says that the weapon is not banned by international law, especially since it has not been officially tested.

It is believed that the weapon is highly carcinogenic and harmful to the environment.

The non-governmental organization Physicians for Human Rights has written to Defense Minister Amir Peretz requesting explanations for the aforementioned injuries to Palestinians. Amos Gilad, a senior adviser to the minister, is supposed to meet with the group on the matter in the near future.

Churchill was given massive amounts of money from jewish financiers during the 30's when he was near bankruptcy. The jewish controlled media always portrayed Churchill, a violent drunken rapist as a savior of western Civilization.

Roosevelt surrounded himself with jewish advisors who urged him to take tough action against Germany but never urged strong measures against the Soviet Union.

So he views Arabs as subhuman and denies their right to exist.....that has a familiar ring to it. I'm not the only one who noticed.

With the entry of Avigdor Lieberman into the government as deputy minister for "strategic threats" – essentially in charge of preparing for war with Iran – Israel makes a qualitative step toward a regime that increasingly resembles, in all its essentials, a rogue state, and, I might add, potentially a very dangerous one. Lieberman's views are notoriously racist, and his rhetoric is invariably violent. He called for the execution of Israeli Arab members of the Knesset who met with Hamas or didn't celebrate Israel's Independence Day. His party, Yisrael Beytenu ("Israel is our Home"), accuses Israeli Arabs of "dual loyalty" on account of their ethnicity, and advocates the complete separation of the Israeli and Arab populations in Palestine – in effect, forced transfer. Lieberman and his followers vehemently oppose the peace process, support the militant settlement movement, and are proud partisans of ethnic cleansing."

Most distressing about these reports, and for a Nation that in just the past few months has seen the Israeli President to be indicted for rape, the current Israeli Prime Minister facing charges for bribery, and its disastrous war against Hezbollah in Lebanon, is that the violence weary people of the Jewish state do indeed appear to be willing to be led by a man who vows to end all violence against them, no matter what the cost, including the use of nuclear weapons.

So bad has the mood become in Israel that a growing number of their citizens are even advocating the release from prison for the man who assassinated their once great peace leader Yitzhak Rabin, and as we can read as reported by the Israeli YNet News Service in their article titled "Poll: 30 percent of Israelis support pardon for Yigal Amir", and which says:

"On eve of 11th anniversary of Rabin's murder – about third of Israeli public believes that his killer should be pardoned. Figures jump to over 50 percent among right-wingers and religious public. Yuval Rabin: 'Only if there's another political assassination people will start wondering what mistakes were made regarding my father's murderer'

Even more distressing are the reports coming from Israel that their once powerful, and respected, Military Forces have begun using mocking names to identify their killing excursions into the besieged and starving enclave of Palestinian Gaza, and as we can read as reported by Israel’s Haaretz News Service in their article titled "The Twilight Zone / The boy who was buried twice", and which says:

"Abdullah a-Zakh identified his son's body by the belt. The shoes and socks also looked familiar, irrefutable proof that he had lost his son. In the morgue of Shifa Hospital, after hours of searching, he found the bottom part of the boy's body. The next day, when Operation "Gan Na'ul" - "Locked Kindergarten" - ended and the Israel Defense Forces exited the Saja'iya neighborhood of Gaza, leaving behind 22 dead and large-scale destruction, the other body parts were found."

But to the greatest outrage being committed by the present embattled Israeli government we can read as reported by the Aljazeera News Service in their article titled "Palestinian child prisoners fall victim to forced labor", and which says:

"Hundreds of Palestinian children are arrested, interrogated, and imprisoned by the Israeli army each year, according to the Defense for Children International/Palestine Section (DCI/PS), a non-governmental organization which monitors the detention conditions of these children and represents them in Israeli military courts. Many of those children fall victim to “forced labor in which they must work at least eight hours a day for a few shekels,” stated an article on uruknet.info.
