Common dream: Show up for college test unprepared after missing many/all classes ?
I have had this reoccurring dream and thought nothing of it, although the scenario never happened to me in real life. I signed up for a college class and missed most if not all class days, then showed up the day of the first test and freaked out.

In the last couple years I have heard two different and unrelated radio talk show hosts admit to the same re-occurring dream and waking up in a state of panic. (I heard the 2nd host just today.)

Is this some kind of collective unconscious common dream that many people share ?

I was late for some type of orgy and I remembered I didn't read up on them properly....

Can't remember what happened next, but it must have been good.

Maybe you have PTSD from standardized tests.

I've had that dream dozens of times. No, wait, I've actually DONE that dozens of times. But seriously I do have that dream all the time. That, and a dream where I don't know where any of my classes are and I can't find my schedule. I've been out of college for 15 years and I still have stress dreams about that shit.

I have them, always have, but lately I usually remember that I already finished school, so the dreams can stop and I just leave.

It is some fear they managed to indoctrinate us with when we were small.

I think if you attended college, you'll eventually have dreams about it.

I remember one weird college dream, where there was this class that I kept "forgetting" about.

I would forget what days I had the class, miss 75% of the classes, and just blow it off.

Every now and then, it would be stressful remembering that class.

"Oh no, I need to sort out XYZ class".

"Am I still enrolled in XYZ class?".

"Oh no, I'm missing all of the assignments in XYZ class!".

Etc.

;)

Neat how the mind works.

I have this same dream. Sometimes high school sometimes college. I also dream that I am back in high school but I know I'm too old and already did 4 years. I even know that I've been through college and that things don't jibe, I try to rationalize it within the dream. Very frustrating.

About once a year, I awake in a panic because I don't know the answers to an algebra test. I'm in middle school or high school at the time. (I'm 72...lol)

I've had the... missed 75% of the classes dream and panic related to feeling like I was enrolled in a class I forgot about and never went to over a dozen times. It always stresses me out... it all seems so real in the dream!

Similar dream. I am an actor in a play. I have not been to rehearsals recently. I had memorized my lines and learned my role but then forgot about it. Now I am in the wings, about to go on, and I go totally blank. I can't even remember the play well enough to ad lib my lines in a way that makes sense.

Re: Common dream: Show up for college test unprepared after missing many/all classes ?
But the most recent college dream was great. I was walking along feeling sick because there was a class I had not attended and i could jot find the classroom to take the exam. But instead of panicking I looked around and was impressed with the university. It was a great place. I was proud to have gotten in. I remembered I have all these diagnoses (in real life) and that I could not study in the shape I am in, but I knew enough to cure myself so i should do that then take classes.

It was the best feeling in the world.

I've had the same dream multiple times. Did the radio host have a theory of what it might mean?

Means you haven't been doing your studies here in life like you're supposed to. Your life is also "school". I have these dreams every now and then too - I show up to class and I haven't been there in weeks, and I have no idea what's going on. Or I keep skipping class because I was already missing so much.
Pay attention to what subjects you're failing if you get those kinds of specifics. In my dreams, I'm usually failing a foreign language, art, or gym class.
These dreams are probably widespread because it's such an easy way for your subconscious to alert you to a problem in your WAKING life.

I've had it. And I haven't been in college for almost 40 years! Once or twice a year, no matter what.

Yes, mine are just like this too. Then I have to decide whether to try to find the class and catch up, or to just keep skipping. MAJOR subconscious alert to get one's shit together!!

This is really interesting. I've never had one like this, but I have the "school" dreams all the time. I wonder if this offers insight into the nature of life, or one's viewpoint on it. Are we being TESTED or are we PERFORMING? Is the point of it the TEST, or the LEARNING?

Excellent analysis. I had these dreams up until age 50 and was considered a 'failure' by my friends and family. Turned my life around in the last 5 years however and have enjoyed huge success as (ironically) a teacher.
