I've been using a "God Helmet" recently.
Myself and a handful of others have been using this device, called a "God Helmet", for several months now and the subjective reporting tends to cluster and lines up with what you would expect.

More info on the device: [link to en.wikipedia.org (secure)]

Stimulate the hippocampus and you'll get into a more "wordless" space that feels much like a deep meditation for me. Stimulate the amygdala and you'll get an improved feeling of well being.

I'm not a brain scientist or a researcher, just exploring on my own, but based on what i've read, the effects fall in line with expectations.

The device was developed by Dr Persinger and has been used in a number of published experiments in peer reviewed journals.

Is anyone else here playing with devices like this? So far my experience has been very positive and surprising in some respects. I'll be happy to answer questions if anyone has them.

Hmmm.... Kind of expensive yeah?

Lasting results or temporary same-day benefit.. or too soon to say ?

I'd start off with something less potent, like a Zeus Electro-Codpiece.

I was one of the original test subjects.
After the operation the brain swelling went down and I could see again.
Good luck.

Re: I've been using a "God Helmet" recently.
expensive yes. but ya got to have priorities in life, ya know? ;-)

there are several different "protocols" that are used in his various studies. some of the study designs use slightly different configurations of the magnets involved.

the protocol i used first was the 6 week configuration. one session a week for 6 weeks. over that time i did notice a definite shift in my thoughts and my internal experience. there was a noticeable shift in the level of internal dialogue i had going on versus my experience before.

i have also tried the protocol after which the device is named. it is a one time, sixty minute session and is intended to elicit a response during the actual session. keep in mind i have only done this once so far, but the experience was amazing. it put me in a meditative state but fully alert, sort of like being in that relaxed state as you fall asleep. i enjoyed it very much.

here is a good video of a talk that Persinger gave that i found informative. its a bit long be warned. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

if the device is a placebo then i am happy with the results. it does concern me just a tad that there are no real longitudinal studies of the effects over long periods of time. i could just be melting my brain or something... ;-)

gtfo op i read persinger's book a few decades ago. however from what i remember he does not recreate experiences when one is brain dead though and the subject witnesses what is happening, recounting conversations etc. to the best of my knowledge.

so surprised to see this brought up

Skip long story but I have a real fez from Fez...old girlfriend went there and got me one...mebbe 1989.
Later I found a fez-case here...
Don't wear it much because it creates a weird throbbing awareness of space within...others have confirmed this effect, like a low surging of silence.

The god helmet hadn't been invented 'till a few years after that. Interesting story, though.
