This is only a couple paragraphs in your link and this paragraph is absolutely false. They did not plead guilty at all. They accepted an Alford plea which means they still claim their innocence while acknowledging that the state had enough evidence to convict them(which they really didn't). Echols didn't even want to accept that as he wanted to be completely cleared of the crime.
So according to your link, the da said "fuck it, just admit your guilty and we will set you free"... Are you fucking kidding me?
