The Elongated skull people were the first alien/human hybrid. But there was a problem they were too intelligent. The aliens killed most of them off and developed us.

That is what happened. There is no missing link between hominids and modern man on the contrary man is the missing link between hominids and aliens.Who by the way have never left.
