Walton said the shooter was an employee, and he was killed by authorities.

Walton said as many three people were killed. As many as 20 people were hurt. Walton said there are four to five crime scenes in this case. "

4 dead 20 wounded. I lived here and know so many people that work there. Truly pissed and sad about this. Hesston doesn't even have a real hospital. It's a one horse town.

UPDATE 7:02PM: At least three patients are said to be en route to an area trauma center.

UPDATE 7:01PM: Some witnesses have told local newscasters that as many as nine people may have been shot. 20-30+ first responders on scene.

UPDATE 6:56PM: Businesses in the area have been locked down.

UPDATE 6:54PM: Updated reports (unconfirmed) say 5 shot, 2 dead and suspect at large. Conflicting reports say suspect is neutralized.

UPDATE 7:16PM: An employee who witnessed the shooting told local media that she did not recognize the shooter. She described him as “dark complexioned and wearing a muscle shirt”. She said he was shooting people seemingly at random.

Harvey County Sheriff: Gunman served PFA hours before shooting

"Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton says the gunman in yesterdays attack at Excel was served a protection from abuse order less than 2 hours before the deadly shooting.

. . .

The shooter, Cedric Ford, was served a PFA around 3:30 p.m. according to Walton. The first shooting happened just before 5 p.m.

'I can't give you details but it would be someone he was in a relationship with,' Walton said."

During the latest Press Conference, they stated that he was served with the Protection From Abuse order while at work at Excel. He left the premises, went home, and then came back.

Woman charged with transferring firearms to Hesston shooter
U.S. Attorney's office says Sarah Hopkins tranferred 3 firearms to Cedric Ford

"Update: 5:15 p.m A woman has been charged for transferring a firearm to a convicted felon in the Hesston shooting case.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom's office said Sarah T. Hopkins, 28, Newton, Kan., is charged with one count of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon.

According to court an affidavit filed in the case, Hopkins knew Cedric Ford was a convicted felon when she gave him a Zastava Serbia, AK-47 type semi-automatic rifle and a Glock Model 22 40-caliber handgun."

According to the Court Affidavit, Sarah said they lived together until July 2015. In August 2015, Newton police assisted her in retrieving the weapons from the residence they used to share. It said that she then returned the weapons to him that same month because he threatened her.

No kidding. This should be the hallmark case for why. Gets bad news at work, leaves work, and then comes back and kills people at work.
