Eminent Domain

Yeah, the wealthy ususally have the means to to pay for eminent domain.

Not sure how this applies to Donald, but the simple fact remains, roads, companies, hospitals, airports utilities--all of these things that are not publicly held--are built by people with money, not by people with NO money.

Oh yeah, paying jobs comes with all that too. Economic growth.

Have nots either wake up and smell the roses--educate yourself to a higher wage potential, develop some product or skill that is in demand, and thus increase your wealth, or stay mired in the mud.

Only Capitalism gives you that opportunity. How has this very basic tennent of our sysem been lost on so many these days?

Oh yeah, and save every penny you can, instead of spending every dollar you make.

The way I see it, if a large corporation or a city or state wants a piece of property for the public good, they should pay the owners price for it, and lets face it, everyone has a price. Therefore Imminent Domain is just used to keep the purchase price down in favor of the buyer.

I lived near a town called Jenner on the California coast for years. We used to go down to the ocean and party all night long, big bonfires and such great fun. Over time, "rich" people moved in, and started closing off access. In essence they were saying fuck you we rule. This affected the entire area as far a community and stress relief of the working class. The people that are not interested in ownership. Free people.

Very hard to take if you are not a groveling little coward. The Earth should not have all these arrogant selfish man-made boundaries IMO.

NYC used to be one of the great cosmopolitan cities in the world. Now the very wealthy have diminished it's greatness by making it all about real estate. No longer are the arts held in such high regard. Now it's about 4 million dollar condos and 8 million dollar apartments - what a f*cking shame.

I guess the further point I had to make, was that as massive amounts of wealth has been welfared/extorted into the hands of fewer and fewer people. Public spaces have dried up into nothing.
Don't know if you've been to Zion in Utah, but used to be able to go there and group camp around campfires and have grand old time with folks. Now that valley is off-limits to general public and 100 dollar a night bungalows with little golf carts full of scumbags and their loved ones control the area. One has to pay 20 bucks and be trammed in. Sucks.

When I left California, the beaches in my area were 25 bucks a night no showers. 200 thousand dollar winnebegos with direct TV overtook throw down campers that could no longer pay the freight.

I could list quite a few similar situations but why bother,..
If you are rabid over Trump, you would never understand the concept of free spirit Bodiless.

Zack, I can appreciate your viewpoint. Perhaps my perspective is just a bit longer than yours. I remember California in the late 70's.

It is vastly different now--same with much of the PacNW. Utah was one of the choicest states I had ever been thru(din't stay, just drove thru) America has swelled in size four fold since then. Not just in people, but in business as well.

Without eminent domain there would be no infrastructure, no nothing. Everything in life has both a good side and a bad side.

I too had a "free spirit" once. Then I settled down, as they call it, and went about making the life I wanted. I dare say I have a "free spirit" now as well. The difference is I can pay for what I want, go where I want, when I want, and most importantly, how I want.

I appreciate you as a poster too Bodeless, which is why I would take the time to have an actual chat with you.
I was there in the late 70's as well. El Toro and Tustin MCAS, running wild, having parties down on the beaches in Huntington, Newport,...Laguna.
Unlike you, I have retained my free spirit. I work seasonally for the FEDS believe it or Not. With 6 other folk, we pack government mules and horses and ride out into the wilderness with axe and crosscut. Clear/build the trails.

I now live in the caldera of a once super volcano and have a horse tank filled with 155 degree hot-springs water straight from mother Earth. I walk out my back door into about half a million acres of wilderness

I left lucrative work in California for this lifestyle and I love it. Do not want to lose it, could care less about amassing wealth. There should be a place in this world for people like me.
Do not want a Trump tower anywhere near it, just because HE says so.

Anyway, Communal eminent domain is one thing, private another. Do we really need another strip mall with starbucks and panda express?

The gov't has NO right to take property from people who bought that property for themselves to give to developers to build houses.

They may have made up that "right" with their bought and paid for judicial system, but in reality it is simply doing what the commies do.

Not EVEN gonna lie. I envy the fuck outta that. Except the working for the FEDS part. Hell, I guess we all do one way or another. After my working career, I have gotten way back into my time with nature. Much as I did as a boy. I fish, hunt and hike around year round-just not all over the country like I used to.

If you ever get the desire, Zack, I would dearly love to see pics. I hiked up St.Helens and saw the "sharkfin" when I worked Vancouver years ago. I can imagine your vistas. Pac NW was incredible, and I regretted I only spent 6 months there.

I salute you for your path homes. Mine was medical, helping folks, my calling. We all have different paths, and thank GOD for that.

Medical is a noble path to be sure. My life is pretty sweet to be sure but when you say envy, kinda gives me the creeps. We all pay our dues, have choice to make,... and your life sounds satisfying and phenomenal.

About the pictures,...not gonna happen. I got into a nasty situation years back posting personal info here. But, google Gila Wilderness, volcano, there are 2, and I can almost guarantee you that I have been there and done that in any picture you may find.

I'll go ahead and salute you back and say, different strokes for different folks, but that does not mean we share nothing in common.
