Could one create a super insulated vacumm chamber to keep foods hot and cold instead of a refrigerator?

Furthermore why aren't refrigerators vacuum sealed? Wouldn't this make them more efficient and allow less aerobic bacteria to migrate?
Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56217776 Yes that's true for aerobic bacteria, but there is also anaerobic bacteria to consider... Food has to be sterile and then vacuum sealed and then they will last for a longer time... As of keeping foods hot or cold, any food will eventually reach ambient temperature. This is true no matter how insulated it is. The trick is changing the ambient temperature to match your preferred storage....
