Your anecdotal experience maybe real, however Texas is a big place and your experience is not indicative of the totality that is Texas. The fact of the matter is Cruz is solidly ahead of Trump in the polling, and has been for quite a while. I personally will be voting for Trump (Cruz being my second choice), yet I try not to let my support go blind and ignorant as Trump has an uphill battle to the presidency. We have to battle attacks from our own party plus the Clinton political machine, which is an efficient and effective machine, as deplorable as I think it is.

Texas rules say that anyone who gets 20% of the vote get some delegates. Under 20%, no delegates. The top vote-getter gets double the delegates of anybody else.

Very unlikely Trump will not get at least 20%. Probably Trump and Cruz will be the only ones getting Texas delegates, but Cruz will not be the only one. He might not even come in 1st.
