This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 6 P.M., Thursday, March 3rd, 2016. Condition Blue. DEFCON 4. Condition Blue. DEFCON 4. Condition Blue. DEFCON 4.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theatre which require closer monitoring.
New sanctions were imposed on North Korea which North Korea has responded to by launching several projectiles into the East Sea in a show of military force. Additionally, North Korea has placed its nuclear and conventional forces into a "pre-emptive" posture. While it is normal for North Korea to react strongly to interpreted provocations, this is coupled with unusually large U.S. and South Korean assets are in the area ready to take part in the largest joint operations to occur on the Korea Peninsula. We feel that, given the current tense situation in the area, it is prudent for the public to take note of events. While the DEFCON Warning System believes the situation will resolve itself over time as it has in the past, the potential for miscalculation and misinterpretation is unusually high at this time.
Russia in a bold move has dispatched submarines to the Barents sea to conduct missile trials of their brand new system. Two Borei-Class Submarines have been put to sea to conduct the drills which will include one sub firing a volley of two missiles, while the other will fire a full salvo of sixteen. Although this is a pre-planned drill and will be exactly as the Russians have stated, it is also a show of force to the United States, and the U.S. has already announced plans for its own large exercises in the area.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.
If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
