"Then I saw a tiny light in the distance, almost like somebody lit a match, then all the sudden it was on me," Le Cun said. "It spit me out into the sunlight into this canal and there were tons of fish around. Goliath groupers, tarpons, a bunch of fish that didn't make it."

And then they blame the fishermen for killing all the fish.

None of the nuclear power plant people think this is worrisome?

Good way for a terrorist to get into the plant, don't you think?

How many other plants have these things?

Our own fight for the West does not begin on the battlefield — it begins with our minds, our wills, and our souls... Americans, Poles, and the nations of Europe value individual freedom and sovereignty. At my local nuke plant (the one that almost melted down during "Hurricane" Sandy

Oyster Creek Nuclear Plant Declares Emergency in Face of Superstorm Sandy Tidal Surge
[link to www.democracynow.org]

they installed a screen to catch all the fish that were getting sucked into the plant and gumming up the works.

Every week or so, they were changing the screen scraping off all the dead fish, and hauling the carcasses off to the dump.

Now they only have to clean the screens once every month, because all those icky fish are all gone.

Nobody seems to be able to figure out where they all went.

Re: Florida Scuba Diver Says He Was Sucked Into Nuclear Plant Intake Pipe
here is the deal with this.

In 1996 I was (still am) a commercial diver (hard hat) on a crew that performed work in those very intake pipelines.

There are three in total that travel 1200 ft or so out into the Atlantic. Two are 12 dia and one is 16ft in diameter. The "buildings" he references are known as velocity caps, there use is to slow down current and entrap trash and bio from entering the cooling lagoon. they are NOT mechanically active (no pumping). Natural flow only. Now, during an incoming tide the water that flows through them is put in a kind of bottle neck which increases the flow rate. Had he been down there on a slack or outgoing tide he would not have been able to enter due to the outflow. As for him entering the velocity cap, they contain a series of "switch backs" that hold heavy debris from entering the lagoon. First stop gap that keeps large debris from entering the actual cooling (turbine) wells that are up near the plant.
yes offshore they are bouyed for the most part and I believe they show on nav charts.

As for his "ride" what a fuck wit. I could imagine his mental state as to the unknown. Only real danger was cuts from bio fouling (barnies and oysters etc.), hitting head on concrete or (the big one) his air going tight due to increased breath rate. Fucking dumb ass fish watchers. LOL

when I read the title of this thread my first thought was a "scooby doo" (recreational diver) performing industrial work had been chewed up. It has happened. Two plants here on west coast of Florida had these horrendous accidents due to lack of knowledge working around/within these types of facilities.

as for the work we preformed. clean - inspect - grouting
worked around the clock for 2 months catching the slack and switch tide times. water depth less than thirty feet.

And Now you know the rest of the story LOL

this is what comes of unqualified scuba divers performing industrial work.

The company I worked for at the time had the unpleasantness of finishing what they started.

notice the date of the article.

These two divers were not in fact commercial divers they were two dim witts hired by the field operations to perform a "simple" dive.

In my working career we were taught "there are old divers and there are bold divers there are no OLD and BOLD divers".

zero chance. Period

the security these facilities have is second to none. This dim witt was damn lucky when he popped up there were not several individuals with arms at ready. After 9/11 power plants when into full lock down mode.

As for coming thru the intake? then what? LOL swim to the rim access road? zero chance.

these facilities are common knowledge. just google.

zero chance ZERO.

shit the fish huggers are always putting out papers with complete inter workings of water intakes and they bitch long and hard on how they damage the environment. They (fish huggers) are always pissing and moaning, yet use the power generated to produce what they author. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The water used is actually cleaner on the discharge compared to what is introduced. An added expense that we the people are charged in our power bills

the discharge is north of the intake. water flowing out the discharge canal can exceed ambient water temp by as much as 30 degrees. This sets up a water temp differential that draws fish like a magnet. yuppers outstanding fishing.

and this dim witt scubbie diver was right about the amount of fish on the lagoon side. It is an aquarium of sorts. Jew fish the size of pickup trucks, linesides that would make any backwater guide froth at the mounth. mangs the length of your arm. LOL good stuff. I would have shit my pants for sure.
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

There is no pump.. the water goes into a long pool by gravity feed.. it is pumped out at the other end to cool the unit.

the intake pipe just allows water to flow in from the ocean.

There is suction on the intake end as long as it is flowing into the cooling pool which is a mile long.

Thats why the permit fishing and snook is so good there.. as the water comes back out it washes all the crabs and shit into the ocean to the north of that buoy.

naaa...no dolphin when I worked there. we were contracted for that particular job only. the way it is constructed a mammal such as a dolphin would have no problem coming or going. Funny thing we observed on that job. as the tide would pick up on the incoming the big old jew fish would stage right at the lagoon side. Looked like a duck/feeder on a park pond. you would see a crab pushed out the pipe and bang grouper had a snack LOL. On the creek side I believe that is the spill over. the complex looks like a horse shoe right?

on a side note. If our boss found us observing the local wildlife too long. well lets just he was an ornery old diver. LOL Call down the comm line. "are you watching the fish or Fucking working!!!" - "we aint paying ya to watch fish!!!now, get to fucking work! (ah good times).
