Anyone interested in film noir?
The NoirCon festival will be held this coming October in Philly.
I dig that genre as it exploits the ills of human nature that are obscure yet more prevalent than any of us can even begin to grasp. Lust, infatuation, prejudice, corruption, etc. All plaguing our political elite (I'm looking at you, Killary). And yet, deep down, those ills haunt us as well, all a part of the human condition.
I write amateur screenplays of this kind and, in fact, I am working on one chronicling the Jessica Chambers investigation as we speak.
Anyone iinterested in attending?

How about some film titles as examples?

I'm interested.

I have no idea what's being displayed at the convention.
But traditional film-noir titles would be "Kiss Me Deadly", "The Maltese Falcon", "Night And The City", "Citizen Kane"(?), "The Naked City", "He Walked By Night", etc.
Relatively modern examples (neo noir) would include but not limited to:
BODY HEAT
THE LAST SEDUCTION
CHINATOWN
DIRTY HARRY
NIGHTCRAWLER
LA CONFIDENTIAL
GONE BABY GONE

Merely just bleak but realistic.
People like being informed of the worst case scenario. In case they succumb to the ills of human nature, somehow and some way. And this is moral education through art.

Re: Anyone interested in film noir?

i really enjoy esoteric mind breaking movies

some good ones ive seen are

altered states
body double
mullholand drive
no country for old men (lol)
spun

im not to sure if some of those qualify as film noir

but it sure as hell made me look away from the screen and take a good look around me to the point i realized i was looking out of my own eyeballs and into this world O_o
