Sense and Sensibility 2 User ID: 124699 ![]() 11/30/2006 06:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hi there KY6!! Hope you're well my friend! What I'd like to know is this, what constitutes a "worthy" news article or some other type of interesting thread around here these days! To be perfectly honest I think the forum is filled with an awful lot of silly threads. So Mods .... what say thee? What do you think most GLPers are interested in reading?! I'd really like to know. Cheers KY6 (V+I etc.!! LOL!) ![]() One has a stronger hand when there's more people playing your same cards George W. Cheers KY6 (V+I etc.!! LOL!) ![]() I personally don't want to be an arbiter of taste. If it's obviously gross then I don't have a problem with something being deleted. But lots of things that one person will find worthy many will not. Silly is a very relative thing, and I enjoy being silly on GLP sometimes. I hope we can avoid being so restrictive that no one can have any fun here. That would ruin GLP for me. Good point DrPostman! I too like to have some fun! I was just wondering what most people here prefer to read when it comes to serious "news". Thanks for your reply. One has a stronger hand when there's more people playing your same cards George W. Cheers KY6 (V+I etc.!! LOL!) ![]() Hi S&S I think the general rule is that a thread lives or dies by the number and frequency of the replies it gets. Silly or not doesn't really come into it. In a world full of war and gloom we all need a bit of light relief from time to time so in essence the board is very democratic and self regulating. It does have a somewhat American bias (especially with regard to politics) but that's only to be expected |

cossack47 User ID: 160120 ![]() 11/30/2006 06:48 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I see we're under heavy spam attack again and Mods are doing a fine clean up job. Quoting: KY6Do you want us to continue reporting spam threads or just ignore them and let Mods get on with it? What exactly constitutes a "spam attack?" - is it perhaps the reason for my regular banning? |

Quoting: cossack47 160120Do you want us to continue reporting spam threads or just ignore them and let Mods get on with it? What exactly constitutes a "spam attack?" - is it perhaps the reason for my regular banning? You may see threads started with a tile and name that has just a quotation mark (") and if you open it there will often be multiple sapm links to either porn sites, viagra peddlars or other crap ususually linked by computer generated drivel (to avoid auto bans) Seems we have a very persistent spamtard around. Other threads will be started with 'odd' looking titles and they are pretty obvious. Mods are doing a great job and the spam threads aren't lasting long - I think the record 'poofing' is about 10 seconds but I think Dr Postman is trying to beat it ![]() If you register and log in you can opt to have a ban immunity that will prevent the bots from banning you. Of course, any obscene material posted will get deleted and Mods do have the ability to overide ban immunity for registered users but so far I don't think anyone has needed to use that power. Registering also give you some 'toys' to play with as well as blocking the ads and at the moment it's free although there is talk about charging a small fee for the priveledge |
