Jonathan Winters taught Robin Williams much of what he knew about comedy. Most of comedy of the 50s and 60s doesn't translate well to today. Winters' voices and characters laid the groundwork for many you probably still feel are relevant, or probably haven't heard of. But whatever. I suppose Lenny Bruce is unfunny as well...

He was a comedic genius. Nuff sed.

The Smothers Brothers, Johnny Carson. A d never got Dea. Martin appeal. He had a variety show.

If you lived "in the old days" as I did, you would have appreciated their humor. Times have changed, and for some reason, what was really funny then isn't funny anymore. We laughed like hell at the TV show, "Laugh In," and "I Love Lucy." I would not find them funny now.

Some of the other personalities were probably promoted not to bring humor, but to further some social / political agenda.
