Police promise greater presence in Dover today as far-right East Kent Alliance march and counter protest from Kent Anti Racism Network

Extra police officers, including some on horses, are in Dover amid fears of a repeat of the violent clashes seen in the town earlier this year.

A planned march by the far-right East Kent Alliance and a counter protest from Kent Anti Racism Network is taking place. So far, only a small number of anti-fascists have gathered in Market Square however it is understood more could be arriving. It is thought four coaches are on their way but have been delayed because they are being searched. Some demonstrators are holding posters saying 'no to racism' and welcoming refugees.
