Reagan Also Had 70% Disapproval Rating Like Trump!!!!!
In March of 1980, only 30% of Americans had a favorable view of Ronald Reagan. Which means he had a 70% disapproval rating, just like the media keeps telling us Donald Trump has now.

By November of 1980, Reagan won against Carter in the greates electoral landslide victory this nation had ever seen.

Sooooo . . . the next time someone says, but Trump is hated by 70% of the American people -- just remind them of Reagan. And ask them -- how did THAT turn out for the democrats?

HAH!!!

And Trump should tell his spokeswoman, Katrina, to use this talking point as well. It would shut the mouths of the MSM.

The only Reagan/Carter numbers I've seen quoted in the past were a general election matchup, not Reagan's approval rating. Is that what you mean?

And even in that case, Reagan was on an upward trajectory at that point and was only 6% behind Carter by April. What's Trumps trajectory against Clinton looking like?

Well, Trump would be a much better President than Reagan to be sure as Trump is not controlled by the NWO or Globalists. I was just bringing up this approval/disapproval ratings because of the similarity.

Exactly, people need to freshen themselves up on history. Yes, Ronald Reagan was hated by 70% of the American people, because he didn't take the Establishments shit. He was a leader and a man of his own. I feel very sure Donald will be a strong leader for our country. He will have the very best of advisors and cabinet members.

From FiveThirtyEight.com, as of March 29, 2016:

"Trumpís favorable rating among the general electorate is, on average, 30 percent. His unfavorable rating is a sky-high 63 percent. In other words, a lot more people dislike Trump than like him. The American public was more evenly split on Reagan at a comparable point in the 1980 campaign. According to an April 1980 Cambridge Reports survey, 39 percent of Americans had a favorable view of Reagan, and 44 percent had an unfavorable view. Reaganís net favorability rating was 28 percentage points higher than Trumpís is."

Also, that a person is said to a "favorability" rating of, say, "30%" does not necessarily mean (and almost certainly doesn't mean) that that person's "unfavorability" rating will be "70%." Invariably, a non-de minimis number of people polled will have neither a favorable nor an unfavorable view of a given person.

Also, while Reagan did achieve a very impressive victory in terms of the Electoral College vote (489 to 49), demonstrating that Reagan's popularity, by the time of the election, was widespread (of course, one could very well argue that the country was rather different, demographically and politically, in 1980), it bears remembering that Reagan's share of the so-called "nationwide popular vote" wasn't nearly so impressive. Reagan garnered some 43.9 million votes out of the 86.5 million cast, or 50.75%. Carter, an enormously unpopular incumbent, received some 35.4 million votes, or about 41%.

The "popular vote" spread was still pretty substantial, but Carter was doubtlessly hurt in this regard by the independent candidacy of John Anderson, who managed 5.7 million votes, or about 6.6%.

One take-away, I think, is that Reagan's victory in 1980 was nothing like what he was to achieve in 1984, nor did it match, say, Johnson in 1964. Those were true "landslides." Reagan's 50.75% of the vote in 1980, running against an unpopular incumbent, in the midst of a dreadful economic recession, and with world affairs then pointing to how diminished was the U.S. in certain quarters, demonstrates that Reagan wasn't nearly as popular in 1980 as people may now think they "remember."

Yes, it does pay to know history, not just "know" it.

Look I voted for Trump (like that matters) and I want him to beat all the other un-American anti democratic options, but say something other than he will have the best advisers. You can't say he will be a strong leader and point out the strength of his advisers in the next sentence with out specifics. Quite frankly it looks bad. He got a big enough hill to climb with the media and all these commie bastards.
