Veteran beat up by cops after calling VA suicide hotline for help
they either put you on hold..or beat you up and drug you.
that is the 'help'. that is the best 'professional' help the Veterans Administration has to offer.

'take yer meds'. It nearly killed him.

less than fifty.

His family called the VA crisis hotline and asked for a crisis team to come to their home, but instead they got the cops, even though they specifically asked to leave them out of it.

The police told Kyle he was being detained after he tried to have his dog attack them and slammed the door in their face.

According to the complaint, Cardenas initially struggled with the officers before retreating to his room. It went on to say: “The police charged into this bedroom … and attempted to restrain Kyle again. During the melee, the officers Tased Kyle at least seven times, sprayed OC spray directly into Kyle’s face, struck Kyle multiple times with their batons, punched Kyle in the face with closed fists, kicked and kneed Kyle in the thighs and legs, and ordered one of the K-9 unit dogs to attack and bite Kyle.”

The fight triggered an episode, apparently, and Kyle was rushed to the hospital.

There, he was reportedly given an anti-psychotic drug commonly used to sedate ‘agitated patients.’ At one point he stopped breathing and turned blue. Cardenas was revived and put into a medically induced coma for four days, local media reported.

Try to get your dog to attack a cop, that's going to happen.

And you believe that part without question? Cops think a dog 2 blocks away taking a shit is "attacking" them. I'm surprised the article doesn't mention the part where they shoot the dog while it was sleeping.

It's not about the cop, it's about the VA who called the cops on him for being sick and needing help. The police aren't trained to deal with that situation and should never have been called to begin with.

that's just it in a nutshell. There are no resources except law enforcement. THAT IS IT.

It used to be there were places to have veterans go like nursing homes, and not just for old people. But to rest or to convalesce from 'shell shock'.

today we just harm them and kill them. or abandon them.

there ARE no resources. if there ever were.

drugging and tasing and beating..

he's lucky he's not a woman, or would have run the risk of being raped too.

It's not believable. LOE make-up lies all the time on their reports. Unless someone video's the incident the truth will never come out. On any incident were the truth does come out the officer are never fired and get paid leave during a investigation. The system is broken.

yes. and 'safety net'? even the spare cord got pulled and nothing doing..

look out below,more like.

there needs to be more done. having emt's that area trained answer calls instead of armed and violent people would be better for a start.

that would be a start.

What's up with the vets, aren't they supposed to be kicking some corrupted butts after experiencing all the truth behind the 'spreading democracy' wars? Looks like most of them are either on suicide watch or on Blackwater's payroll

If you call for help, the police always arrive first. Usually not this many, but the VA must have told them something weird. The police ALWAYS come. Know this.

Be ready for it if you have a true medical emergency, secure all dogs out of their sight and be docile. Only do this if someone is dying. Otherwise, just drive to the hospital.

The VA crisis line is bullshit. Even when it is called, you can and will be arrested unless there's a full svc VA hospital closer than the jail.

The best way to think of cops is to imagine they're demons. They derive their joy from human misery. If you think explaining to a cop why you're sad is going to win you any sympathy or understanding, you might as well be showing a perv your tits. Your suffering to a cop is the equivalent of a hand job. They use human tears as sexual lubricant. The more miserable or vulnerable you are, the bigger their erection. Know that every word you say to them will be twisted in to something unintended, every cry for help ignored and any attempt at reasoning completely futile. I only realized this recently to my detriment while watching my world be twisted into a elizabethan melodrama that had nothing to do with reality so two cops could compound my misery for their own sexual gratification and monetary gain. You know how sociopaths like to hurt animals as children? Like that chick who crushes kittens with her heels or somebody who puts puppies in a sack and throws them in the river to get off? That's the police in a nutshell.

The absolute worst thing you can do in any situation is a call a cop. You'd be better off being mugged, beaten, raped, stabbed or even killed than deal with the nightmare the police will rain down on your situation. You might as well be screaming 'help me Satan!' when you dial 911. Calling a cop is like being on fire and then pouring gas on yourself. Sure, being the victim of a crime sucks but at least its free and when its over, its over. Once the police are involved in your life, its forever...plus attorney fees.

this happens all too often. This is not true of every cop, perhaps not even the majority. But it is true of enough in authority that is presents a very real danger and a very real situation. If there were more 'good' cops to stand up to the bad ones in corrupt areas and cross that 'thin blue line', and if the good ones weren't so damn outnumbered and understaffed in areas they do hold the line..there would be a difference.

but right now we have a carte blanche de facto military police state.

the thing about the vets..once they get back from seeing it in another country..it is virtually impossible to NOT recognize it when you get back.
