Question for Android users.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505.

Seriously if you don't have root access you have no hope, you are not controlling your device it is controlling you.
RW-R access is required to operate an Android device.

How you found any guides on rooting this device? Not all devices have detailed instructions on rooting them.
Which is why you should check before you buy one if there is an easy way to root it.

Android devices these days are coming with extra hardware locking to prevent root rights.
Many you think are cheap and a good deal, you will soon find no one has even bothered trying to root it.

Does it work on yours? Is it rooted?

I mean I come from the days of Rage Against the Cage and Z4root.
These days rooting is device specific.

I tried, and at 99% it gave a couple of warnings asking if I should proceed.

I eventually clicked No, because I'm having an issue with my smart phone.

I decided to wait and see if I can resolve this first, because if I have to send it in for repair I don't want it to be rooted just yet because it voids the warranty.

The thing is, there is different hardware builds of this model.
Send it in for repair? Are you on meth?
No one repairs these glued together multi layer surface mount junk built by robots.
They throw it away and send you a new one.

You can root an S4. My current S5 active is rooted also. Do you need a guide is that what you're asking for?

And yeah that's probably why you can't change your download designatiion. Unless it's opera cockblocking you.

Trust me, I have googled stuff like 'change default download location for Opera' etc, but doesn't work.

The only thing repairable replaceable on modern phones is the screen or battery dependent on how cheap you can import the bits from ChingaLingDingLand.
The rest is glued together throw away garbage junk.

Some are hardware locked. Pointless trying to fuck with that although in theory you could, its just not worth the time.

And yes, my battery ALWAYS shows at 100% on the top right of my screen, no matter how long I use it.

And when I charge it, the big battery in the center ALWAYS is 99%, I've never seen it go below 99%, lol. And it takes AGES for it to reach 100% even using a 2.1A charger.

But the main issue is is that my phone shuts off all by itself from time to time.

I e-mailed the person who sold me the phone and he sent me a new battery.

I'll see if it will fix this problem.

I've already contacted Samsung before and they told me to 'hard reset' which I did, but it didn't work.

If the new battery doesn't help I'm gonna send it in for repair.

Do you have ADB interface? Can you code? The device is not going to let you change the DL directory because it thinks its a security risk.

You could look into Kitchen and make your own rom.
That is if nor hardware locked.

Many now are locked, some are some aren't.
It has physical circuitry preventing the loading of a custom boot menu.

And also, ROM Toolbox Pro is something like €6 or something. (Want to change the default install location for apps too).

To be honest with you, that's a lot of money for simply changing the download & install location, not interested in using the other stuff the program has to offer.

The only problems I've heard of with the S seried is updates making it impossible to root. The manufacturer blocking it with software.

When you get that you flash with Odin to the original firmware, root,then update back to the firmware and you keep the root access.

Try kick ass torrents for that for free.

It depends on the HW, they are not all the same.
They have differing little codes for where and what they were built for.
2 the same have diff HW.
I think its all a scam, you buy a device you should be able to do wtf you want with it.
Research the models you buy and check the codes FIRST before you buy.

Find a huge rock and throw it on top of your phone, should fix it I'm 99.9 percent sure.
