Two Christmases back I was watching The Christmas Story, when my in-laws stopped by unannounced.

She had never seen it and the end scene racism, set her off like a bomb. I told her it was made in 80s. That didn't matter to her.

Dang 100 times? I don’t think I’ve ever watched something more than a few times. Nah, it was on tv and never caught my attention. I didn’t really care much for cartoons or kiddie shows when a child.

Yeah, 80s got away with lots of things now one couldn’t.

They took cursive away for a while but now brought it back. I’m glad they did.

The first story in the collection tells of a group of yellow bird-like creatures called the Sneetches, some of whom have a green star on their bellies. At the beginning of the story, Sneetches with stars discriminate against and shun those without. An entrepreneur named Sylvester McMonkey McBean (calling himself the Fix-It-Up Chappie) appears and offers the Sneetches without stars the chance to get them with his Star-On machine, for three dollars. The treatment is instantly popular, but this upsets the original star-bellied Sneetches, as they are in danger of losing their special status.



This continues until the Sneetches are penniless and McBean departs as a rich man, amused by their folly. Despite his assertion that "you can't teach a Sneetch", the Sneetches learn from this experience that neither plain-belly nor star-belly Sneetches are superior, and they are able to get along and become friends

I memorize catch phrases or weird quirks in movies I find amusing.

Oh yeah, then was a bit demented in characterization with races definitely.

I didn’t realize how violent Tom and Jerry was until I looked at it. What does that do to the psyche of those taking it in?

Interesting. That goes with wisdom crying out and lonely. That reminded of the children of the earth. Loose that humanity and awareness survival becomes a task. He’s right in that techies could see mountain men as not very bright and vice versa as they are both very different types of wise.
