Miracle in Chicago? Pilgrims flock to see Orthodox icon weeping drops of oil
I am wondering what GLP thinks of this. Miracle, fake, demonic?

"tiny drops of sweet-smelling oil have been trickling down an icon of John the Baptist at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Homer Glen. The parishioners believe the droplets have healing properties.

The oil exudes from the icon's halo, wings, hands and beard and is collected in a reservoir of cotton at its base. Dimitriou saturates cotton balls with the substance and hands them out to his parishioners. He has had several reports of divine healing from those who have touched it. One man said a blocked artery had cleared, while another claimed to be cancer free. Dimitriou himself, who had experienced blackouts because of a nerve condition, said he had not suffered since the oil began to flow and had stopped taking his medication."

That is usually my first response to this stuff.

However there was this time when my family was ministering in Africa in front of a very large crowd and oil started literally dripping from my brothers arms and hands. People were getting healed, blind eyes were opened, it was wild.

Very real! Orthodox is the original...Roman orthodox split from the original five during the great schism. Catholic went on to make changes...orthodox remained the same....very old traditions.....but also somewhat closer to ideas of quantum physics. (No real space and time, etc, etc). Anyway, great miracles...very interesting.

The single most important belief that sets Orthodox from the majority of Christians in the West,

Orthodox don't believe in once saved always saved.

They believe it's still important that once you accept Jesus, that you then actually do your best to live by his teachings.

Romans 2:7 He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.

Re: Miracle in Chicago? Pilgrims flock to see Orthodox icon weeping drops of oil
The oil, which parishioners believe to be myrrh, exudes from the icon's halo, wings, hands and beard. Collected every week by a reservoir of cotton at the base of the icon, Dimitriou regularly extracts the oil into a pitcher, then saturates cotton balls, which he seals in plastic bags for parishioners to take home and share with their loved ones. So far, he has handed out more than 5,000 samples a handy way to track the flow of pilgrims

Reports of the oil's healing effects have made their way to Dimitriou. One man reportedly went to the doctor concerning a blockage in his artery, but it had disappeared. Another reports being cancer free after touching the oil.

Orthodox beliefs are much more westernized if that makes sense. They see miracles differently and simply have a different fundamental baseline. They are the original and have refused the pressure of change.

Orthodox church follows the earliest christian traditions. Icons are used not for idolatry but because in the earliest churches most people were illiterate so the walls were painted with the saints/important themes/events in the bible so they could visually understand the bible.

the icons are a tradition from the earliest churches.

Interesting OP! hf
Thank you.

My first thought ...

Matthew 25:1-13King James Version (KJV)

25 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.

9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Re: Miracle in Chicago? Pilgrims flock to see Orthodox icon weeping drops of oil
It's Beltane. This is a ritual. A coded message. Part of the greater 3D illusionary construct of the ritual that isn't the surface storyline.

Look up oil ceremony for Beltane. The oil stated to be emitting from this place is myrrh. That is the single most important in the beltane brew, so to speak.

Is anyone even sure this is real and actually occurring in Chicago? Is it only based on Big Six media reporting or are there say...people on fb who have gone there and such?

I would venture to say that this isn't even a real event that is really happening.

If it is, it has zero to do with "the church" or anything resembling a paranormal force at work.

Let's say for a moment that it IS a "real" supernatural event from "God" or whatever it is most people are claiming it to be here in comments...

Myrrh is NOT a "good omen" no matter what religious expression you interpret this from.

Even in the biblical story of the 3 wise men, the myrrh symbolized DEATH.

Come on, GLP...have we all become so brainwashed that true sight has left the oil oozing building?

Not Beltane as today is the Orthodox Easter! hf

Myrrh and Frankincense symbolize LIFE as it was what the three wise men gifted to Christ. The article also has a 'second source' ...

If you can't understand why the Eastern Orthodox Church's holy days coincide with ancient holy days, nothing I said in my post will make any sense to you.

Oh...and it's all the Holy days in Christendon, not just Eastern Orthodox.

Also...it IS Beltane today. May 1st, 2016.
