Did you ever wonder why our spelling is crap? I mean, how complicated would it be to simply have one letter for every sound? Then we could spell anything phonetically. And our measuring system. We are one of the last countries left that doesn't use the metric system. Ever wonder why? How about our calendar? Did you know that those names actually once MEANT something? Octagon = eight sided shape. October was once the eight month. Get it? october, november, december... octagon, nonagon, decagon... but then they screwed it all up. There are also mental models that used to be taught to understand chemistry and astronomy. Look up the astrolabe for example. It was one of these ancient 'computers' that everyone knew how to use. rhetoric, reason, logic, astronomy... not only were you not taught it, but you were taught in a way that screwed up your mind. Sorry. It happened to me too. |

Quoting: As part of our training, before learning nuclear physics, we had to take some basic math classes. Algebra and the like. To make sure we were up to snuff. I found these to be very hard. 'Math' never made any sense to me. But once we got to nuclear physics, chemistry, electrical and mechanical engineering however, I excelled. I could visualize what was physically happening and all of the sudden all of the formulas and 'math' made SENSE. I had visual SENSATIONS to go along with the numerals and operators. I pondered this for many years. Why was I so good at USING math, but not just doing 'mathematics?' I figured it out years later. You see, there is no such thing as pure 'mathematics'. We are being lied to and taught wrong in school. Here is the truth...The original guys how invented mathematics were actually using MACHINES they built to figure things out. They knew the human mind is CRAP at doing complex stuff, so they built machines. One of them was a basic 'number line'. Another one, is an abacus. They then wrote down their step by step manipulations of these machines to figure these things out in a language they invented, called 'mathematics'. So when you are adding and subtracting and multiplying and dividing... you are actually supposed to be visualizing these machines. The first one, being a 'numberline'. You are doing 'OPERATIONS' on these machines. Each kind of math you learn, is based on a different machine. Number line. Contractor (trigonometry). Then there is balancing scales (algebra). Now, if you had been taught these machines as you went along, you would have been able to visualize what the Hell you were writing down and why you were writing it down. Math would have made 'sense'. But they don't want us to understand math. Or logic. Or reason. So they teach us in a screwed up fashion. Look at these kids in japan. Using the actual MACHINE. Thing is, over time you can learn to create a mental model of these 'machines' in your mind, and then guess what? You can do amazing mental calculations. But it doesn't end there. Look up 'memory palaces'. This is the simple technique people use to remember almost ANYTHING. And it works for EVERYBODY. There are other 'mental machines' and 'mental models' that you can learn as well. That make everything make sense. That make everything Easy. You are not taught these things, because they want to keep your mind confused. And weak.Good luck everyone. We need it. Smart school administrators would probably look for retired engineers, scientists, etc., to teach math. |
