Has anyone read the Wheel of Time?
Did you know that Robert Jordan was an extremely well versed Christian as well as Buddhist? He was also a physicist who, from what he's written, I gather, had an extensive knowledge of quantum physics, A.K.A. metaphysics. The setting was set in the third age. Throughout the series their are legends and relics from the first age that are all hints of now. The entire series is a blueprint. The purpose of existence is quite clear.

"Maybe… Lews Therin said, shockingly lucid, not a hint of madness to him. He spoke softly, reverently. Why? Could it be… Maybe it’s so that we can have a second chance.

...

Why, Rand? Why do you go to battle? What is the point?

Why?

All was still. Even with the tempest, the winds, the crashes of thunder. All was still.

Why? Rand thought with wonder. Because each time we live, we get to love again.

That was the answer. It all swept over him, lives lived, mistakes made, love changing everything. He saw the entire world in his mind’s eye, lit by the glow in his hand. He remembered lives, hundreds of them, thousands of them, stretching to infinity. He remembered love, and peace, and joy, and hope."

Here I thought you were going to tell us how a major studio has signed on to make the TV show.

So anyway....yep. Read most of it. Still need to read the last 4 books. I think I'll make that my summer goal.

No. But Red Eagle made one REALLY butchered half hour episode, aired it at 4am on a paid programming slot, with zero advertising. All to retain the rights to keep them from reverting to the author's widow. That pissed me off. Ruined millions of people's visions of the series.

I wasn't kidding.

Harriet announced it last week.

"Update: Wanted to share with you exciting news about The Wheel of Time. Legal issues have been resolved. The Wheel of Time will become a cutting edge TV series! I couldn’t be more pleased. Look for the official announcement coming soon from a major studio —Harriet "

I don't know what happened with the Red Eagle lawsuit - but I'm guessing Red Eagle lost? And it was nicely butchered - but it wasn't terrible. There were parts I kinda liked.

Hopefully whoever they give this to at the studio will be a fan that wants to do it justice. The idea that someone who's never read the series gets their hands on it, scares me.

I have read the whole series several times. So far there is nothing that comes close to beating WOT. A true masterpiece.

That's amazing. I hope they actually manage to put it on the same scale as The Lord of the Rings films. They'll have to do better than Red Eagle's shoddy first attempt at it though.

Re: Has anyone read the Wheel of Time?
The first few books are great but Robert Jordan dragged out the series. Since each book meant another paycheck he pushed the series much longer than he needed to. Then the douchbag died before even finishing it. And another author had to finish it. F@&k Robert Jordan, and don't waste your time with his stupid books.

Re: Has anyone read the Wheel of Time?
A friend of mine turned me on to the series in '99. I finished the series a year or two ago when the last book came out. I was worried about sanderson after the first book he did but it turned out all right.

Matt's chapters were always my favorite.

I agree, he will drag it out then die and never finish it.

Like I said though WoT was dragged out way too long. I made it to book 9 or 10 then quit in rage. He would of dragged it out to 30 books if the fucker lived long enough.

Yeah yeah, I know, reading makes your head hurt. It has more than one main character. Find a different thread asshole. He planned to end it at book twelve btw.
