Another food for thoughts , why lifesaving medicines are so expensive in USA ? I think public medical and vet schools should make antivenom and other critical meds available for free ,if needed
real issues please (OP)

bumping own post .
Looks like if snake bite you here -it's just better to drown in the ditch than seek help.
Mexican cost for the same 1 gram vial /SAME MANUFACTURER/
is mere $200
Consider this standard business model for all USA pharmaceutical industry. If you get some real issues always go to Canada , EU or Mexico where lifesaving medications are considered almost non profit

30 years ago a lot of universities made the antivenom it was a good learning experience for the students and a way to make some income, and the antivenom was cheap and plentiful then they all stopped and now it is a big pharma goldmine.

If you are going to be bitten by a venomous snake do it in Mexico the same treatment is about 1/10th the cost.

If ever bit by a venomous subject your best bet is to remain calm and drink some urine from your hand. The antibodies will be in your **** stream within seconds. You can also cure any allergy this way; it's called urine therapy.

Try not to further this thread's whiny overtone by complaining about how gross that might be.

I suppose if I had some rattle snake venom to sell, I'd want to sell it to USA. Or set up my own rattle snake venom salon for a few bucks cheaper than the hospital. America.

living in the desert with my dog... i always start to worry about this stuff as my relaxation is to go,outmunder the stars at night in the desert. i like walking my dog too, but i always worry about these creatures. anti-venom should be available like an epi pen imho for people living in the desert who go camping, star gazing, walking or hiking... just my 2 cents.

Seek ER help immediately

But heres a tidbit of trivia. Romans used to eat a lemon after snakebite or poison,

Had a friend that breathed in fumes and was feeling sick and off kilter. We squeezed a whole lemon in some water and had him drink it.
