ASTROPHYSICIST WAS 'POISONED' IN ANTARCTICA

Anyone remember when this happend? Here's an update on the Astrophysicist Rodney David Marks:


'AN Australian scientist who died while working in Antarctica six years ago may have been deliberately poisoned by a colleague.

Astrophysicist Rodney David Marks died of acute methanol intoxication at the US's South Pole base on May 12, 2000.

The 32-year-old Victorian had suddenly developed severe breathing difficulties and began vomiting blood in the hours before his death. His body was unable to be removed from Antarctica for six months over winter.

Christchurch coroner Richard McElrea - who has jurisdiction because Marks died within New Zealand's area of interest in Antarctica - yesterday reconvened an inquest that was first opened in November 2000.
