I am wondering if zika sticks around in the body like some other viruses do -- like herpes & chicken pox?

Could, for instance, a 13 year old girl pick up zika, maybe a mild case and does not even realize it is zika. Fast forward, she is 26 years old and decides to have her first baby. Is the virus still present? Could it damage her baby all those years later? That is even before we get into the issue of this thing being sexually transmitted.

Our family will be vacationing in the tropics this summer. I plan to be very insistent on my daughters wearing skeeter repellent with deet -- we usually wear Avon Skin So Soft to deter bugs, gonna go more hardcore this year. Not worth the risk until we know more about this virus.
