what would you do ?.. dental question
What would you do if your dentist tried to pull off a new dental crown , with a plier, that did not fit right.. ultimately had to remove it and have another made ... and then months later , when you have a dental infection(trauma based- the plier loosened the tooth) above that tooth ... he tells you your may need 2 root canals because of this.
These were newly crowned front teeth.
He will not admit that it was his mistake and take responsibility .. would you go back to him? What would you do about it?

NO, DON't Go back to him! Get yourself someone who knows what he's doing.

I will avoid root canals now, at all costs, cos I don't think it's good for a person's health to have dead teeth kicking around. Dentists like them - they make loads of money out of rc's!

Also, try not to have any more metal in your mouth - apparently they do ceramic crowns now, with no metal. My sympathies, OP, I now what you're going through.

Re: what would you do ?.. dental question
Dentists these days are all about the money. They make as much, if not more, than general doctors. I've been put out with my dentist because he doesn't have time to talk. He's constantly got an assembly line of patients in at least 3 other rooms at once. Its pretty damn frustrating. Pisses me off when I catch that condescending attitude whenever I'm paying cash and have no insurance.

I once had a root canal done whenever the doctor was just doing a routine procedure. I had my mouth full of junk and couldn't speak, he explained that he thought it needed a root canal, so what could I do? Turned out that this man had a raging cocaine addiction and was forced out of practice just a few months later. So do your homework when searching for a dentist or doctor.

I agree with the poster who advised that you get away from that dentist and go to another. It would be wise to ask co-workers or members of your family for a referral.

Best advice: When you finally get this resolved, avoid the dentist like the plague. Only go when you have a problem you can't fix. This going every six months for an oral exam is BS. You'll keep your teeth a lot longer if you stay out of the dentist's chair. I should know! :) Just take reasonable care of your teeth and check with a flashlight the entire oral cavity every now and then. Get acquainted with your own mouth! And no fluoride!

Bless your heart! I'm so sorry! Do find another dentist. My dentist had to replace a crown, and he had to cut it off with a drill. I've never heard of one pulling it off. That is malpractice. Find another dentist, and take this one to small claims courts, and make him pay for the repair.

I was the victim of a horrible dentist when I was young. He filled every tooth in my head with horrible fillings. When he died, one of his office workers said he had been falsifying records for years, filling teeth that didn't need to be filled. Unfortunately, he didn't die before I took my son to him, so he has a number of fillings, too. :-(
